What an unusual "career curve." Well, he really hung in there, didn't he? Country people have a right to the music they like. Yodeling isn't my favorite vocal style, although as much as my voice cracks when I try to cover easy little background vocals these days, I should heartily embrace it as an excuse: "Oh, yes, I was just yodeling there........." Works every time. But Slim did his thing and he is a legend. The world would not be the same without "Una Paloma Blanca--AH-AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!" Stephen Sondheim and Jules Styne said it best: "You Gotta Have a Gimmick"....... Thanks for the.er....dedication. I certainly won't soon forget it....t'ah.... I make 'em laugh, I make 'em cry and THINK? JUst when I thought I'd gone too far. Well, pretty soon, I'll have 'em doin' laps around the pool. Or, around Paul, whoever is more convenient. T'ah.

He makes us look to the somewhat nuttiness of humanity... Thus the dedication of an elusive "artist", who in the old tv ad, "Had more number 1 hits than the Beatles or Elvis"...How many can fill that bill than Slim Whitman. Did you ever notice that Slim was the inspiration of many of Bill's videos? Slim Whitman was also stated in George Harrison's "I Me Mine" that as a child he listened to Slim Whitman. Though he didn't write that it was by choice, it could have been by circumstances because his voice was the only one coming through the radio at home. I also remember hearing Keith Richards claim he used to listen to Slim Whitman as a youth. So there you have it, two of the legends of Rock and Roll were listeners of the wonderful vocals of Slim Whitman. And the rest is rock and roll history... I think
