Really. Going Off topic. We all need to try it every now and then. Of course, staying on topic, and doing all you can (Strengthening your resolve) to keep the threads in order and on topic is umm... ok.
I guess.
But who doesn't love to change the cyber-channel, so to speak. I dunno, let's see, shall we?
Example:
Eyesbleed: "Well, darn, these young'uns today! All they seem to do is change the dang topic. What's with 'em. Fer cryin' out loud. Can't they just say what's on their durn minds, and just say what they wanna say?"
JoJo: "He heh ..erm, I guess that's a reasonable arguement to make. But you know how it is with these kids. They just have so much on their minds that they can't seem to stay put on one issue. I think we can live with it, to a point. I know Vaggie tries occasionally to have a point that isn't, erm, something that's besides the point. We'll just keep an eye on the situation and see how it goes.
Or doesn't go as the case may be." ;D
Eyesbleed: "Yeah, well in my young days we didn't go off topic. Heck, we didn't even have these dang computers and internet whatchamacallits! We walked 4 miles to school with our lunch buckets slung over our shoulders and pretended we were gun - slingin' outlaws. Or cowboys.
And whenever we needed to look somethin' up, we worked for a month selling newspapers so we could buy a freakin' dictionary! None of this sissy gogglin' every last dang word stuff!
Fer cryin' out loud! What's with these young whippersnappers these days?!"
JoJo: "I give up!" ;D
So, there you go. Going off topic has it's defenders and detractors. I'm not saying that NIR's beloved Eyesbleed is one of them. That was just to fill up this post with words to present a valid and serious point. One that'll show that even occasionally, there can be found those who feel going off topic... is something that people can do without online. Particularly on message boards. There are those who think going off topic is bad for a forum. It's sad to think some people feel that way.
Well, shame on all of you! ;D
Well, I guess that's about it. I'll let Eyesbleed have the last word... for now, anyways:
Eyesbleed: "What?! Vaggie's makin' fun of me in this thread. I didn't give my approval for this junk! Cut it !@#$! out already! Now I'm not kiddin' here! And quit makin' fun of my postin' style. It's the way I speak! Knock it off, Vaggie, you BRAT!"
LOL! Okay, Eyesbleed. I think I'll stop right at the end of this sentence .....
You're welcome!
Love, Vaggie ;D

These dang young'uns these days think they're so dang smart! Actually... I think it would go..... "Fer cryin' out loud! What-the-hells up with these young whippersnappers these days??" ;D

...... and my favorite ol'cooterism is "OH GOOD LORD" But it's gotta be said with a decidedly southern drawl & in a tone that implies defeat.
OK, so now we can all say it together... "OHHHHH GOOD LOW--ARD"
Now it's time fer me to go sit out on the front porch & yell at those dang young'uns.... hotroddin' up & down the street like they own it or somethin'!
Dag-nabbit! Them dang young'uns & their boom-boom stereos are drownin' out my Tennessee Ernie Ford records!
When I was a young'un.... we had to make do with Pintos & Falcons & Edsels.... held together with duc tape!

That was pretty funny Miss V. Keep an eye on the situation..That describes it pretty accurately actually. I'm not necessarily talking about the fictional conversation between Eyesbleed and myself, just in general.. It is possible to off topic in "off topic"? Hmmm..

I'm not necessarily talking about the fictional conversation between Eyesbleed and myself, just in general.. It is possible to off topic in "off topic"? Hmmm.. ;D Speaking from experience (Having been largely responsible for dragging at least one forum OT), it's a matter of when, where and how you go OT. Serious discussions here that don't call for it; I'll avoid. If I can help myself, that is .. I try and try ... I realise that this is a cyber-home for many, and that I'm an extended house guest, so to speak. Even though I'm a member. It's a matter of respecting the ... well, I don't always succeed. But you can't go OT everywhere without at least considering what's being discussed on a given thread first. I just couldn't help myself this time. And yes, it's possible (Speaking from personal experience) to drag an OT thread off-topic. I just stay on topic... that's the opposite, right? *** JoJo scratches head ... hmmmm... hooo - boooy! *** ;D Btw, I liked the smilie!

This thread's still on topic! Doc'? Can you help us out? Do you have any thoughts on discussing the rumored excess of lint in Andy Rooney's (Of 60 Minutes Fame) pocket?! I hear he's using it to knit a sweater for Leslie Stall (Host). Have you heard about that?! Just saying! ;D

The eyebrows automatically catch all the lint. Ha ha! ;D That's funnneeeee! So the rumors of Leslie's (carefully knitted) sweater are unfounded. Unless .... he's knitting it using his eyebrows of course!

Not familiar with MST3K? That's short for Mystery Science Theater 3000. It used to be on Sci-Fi channel. The show where the guy & his 2 bots have to watch the worst movies ever & since I love really bad cheesy movies, well..... that's gotta be the best show ever on TV. Besides the really bad movie, there's short segments where the bots take a break from the movie & have their own little storyline goin' on.

So what you're saying is that it's kinda' retro cool, Eyesbleed? Sounds like fun. To be honest, I almost never watch tv. I'll bet that show was a lot more fun than today's tv. I think that unless it's something like "Dog" (Born Again Christian Bounty Hunter family track down people... who've jumped bail, COOL Reality TV!!) I never really watch tv. I watch a bit of news, maybe some shows if they look really good. But I don't think there's anything like M.A.S.H. or Brady Bunch out there. I'm even bored by some, but not all, music videos now. They're almost all the same. What was my point? Oh, right! I'll google that Mystery Theater Sci Fi show and check it out. At least it sound more interesting than Survivor (Complete garbage).

There's lots of MST3K dvd's available. And I've got a big stack of VHS's that I'd sell cheap. I should put'em on half.com one of these days.
I think you'd probably like this show.... I always wonder how they find these worse-than-god-awful old movies they make fun of.

I always wonder how they find these worse-than-god-awful old movies they make fun of. I like fun movies that have a point. I love Titanic .. umm, lessee. The Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. The Truman Show..Liar Liar. I recently saw Fun With Dick And Jane... that was so- so. Spiderman 1 & 2 were good. Most of those have Jim Carrey or Kate Winslet in them. ;D Those are a few of my favorites. Eyes Wide Shut sucked gargantuous gobs of vomitous hiccups and mountainous (Sick bag) hurlage. As for tv, I like dramas like C.S.I. and things like that. Btw, Eyesbleed, I think I saw Johnny Depp in some old movie that was about the guy who directed a loust Sci Fi B Movie. That was cool. I think it was called Ed Wood. Was that like Sci Fi 3000?

Ed Wood did movies that were bad enough to be ridiculed on MST3K, but the Depp movie about Ed Wood is WAY too high quality good to be on there.
MST3K makes fun of REALLY REALLY BAD movies. Just imagine the worst film you've ever seen..... whatever that would be is still WAY too good to be on MST3K. Most of the movies they ridicule are from the 40's - the 60's & I'm talkin' bad..... WORSE than bad. I'm talkin' painful! That's the point of the show. Mike & the bots are held prisoner in space & are forced by their evil captors to watch these awful movies, so they make the best of it & joke their way thru the pain.

When it was over I found myself asking "Where's the rest of the pic'? What about a real ending?!" Would that count?

I wonder if Bill ever saw "Glen or Glenda?"
I remember this one horrible movie that was on MST 3 K, and it looked like a Scandinavian Fairytale made in the 1930's, with the first use of color up there. The best parts were the comments made by the characters, rather than the actual movie plot, which made no sense.
Was Robot Monster ever on there? I heard that the film's director almost committed suicide after the film was finished. They couldn't afford an entire space suit, so the monster wore a gorilla outfit with a deep sea diver's headgear on it's head. Really bad.

I can't think of the name of the Scandinavian movie right off-hand, but I remember the one yer talkin' about. That's usualy the case with MST3K episodes. The movies are so bad, they'd have to improve considerably just to find a plotline! It's the jokin' around that holds everything together. I'm not sure if Robot Monster was an episode, but I think it was.... that sounds like yer typical monster on these type movies. One if my favorite episodes is The Creeping Terror & the monster resembles an old roll of indoor carpeting! It moves rather slowly, so it's victims have to just stand there & scream as they wait & then they gotta help out the carpet-roll monster & actually crawl into the "mouth" I just love it! They don't make movies like THAT anymore!

Absolutely NOT! WAAAAY too much quality! Now if that movie had've been made on a budget of about $1000 & if they loose whatever there was resembling a plot....... & get rid of the wellknown actors... then & only then would it qualify!

I think I'll go offtopic from the offtopic MST3K discussion. Well.... the end must be near coz there's gonna be a Rudd Hour on the radio tomorrow. Just got an email from my bud in London..(the rave dj who did the footwork for us at the Colindale Library) Anyway, he's got an internet radio station where they mainly play the techno rave releases that he & his cohorts are constantly releasing over there. During the last few years, we've done lots of cd trades, & I've turned him on to lots of avant-rock stuff that he never woulda heard of otherwise... He's a big fan of most of that stuff now..... I've corrupted him. So he sez he's gonna start having the Rudd Hour (I guess) once a week..... Too funny! This will be a combination of artists I've turned him onto & my own original music. And I'm still on a semi-vacation so I should be able to check this out myself..... this should be interesting! Or embarrassing;D www.hiddenhand.net/2PM CST Thursday FYI... I was just over there checkin out the newly redesigned HiddenHand website & thought I'd try the radio & it didn't work. But I figured out the reason was because I didn't have a realplayer or winamp... so I got the free winamp & it works fine. There was some pretty cool stuff playin' when I popped in... but I didn't stay long.... It was time for lunch & the soapy.!

That's really cool, Eyesbleed. Do you have any of your band Research's music online? It seems like you've been holding out on us .. your band was a punk pioneer band way back in the last century. That's amazing! I love your art, btw. I think I've seen your PJ Harvey picture before. But the others are great as well. You should feel very proud. Even if you do own cd's by some band named Evil Fishhead ... good grief! ;D
