This from the IMDB Help! trivia section: imdb.com/title/tt0059260/trivia In the beach scene towards the end of the film, John Lennon had an appointment and could not be present. Another actor stood in for him.
Don't really know how true this is, IMDB follows the same policy as Wikipedia, in that anyone can add new information. Here are some stills, what do you think? Another oddity to add regarding film editing, from: www.moviemistakes.com/film1634 Continuity: In the scene where John, George and Ringo are about to take their seat in the restaurant, look closely at the mirror on the wall. You can see Paul dancing with Ahme. However, when John then asks, 'Are you eating too, Paul?' and the shot cuts to Paul, the original belly dancer, not yet replaced by Ahme, is the one dancing.Sure enough, here it is:

I remember it was pointed out that his shirt appeared to change color in that scene. Maybe that was the stand-in.

Maybe it was John's chiropractor, as long as the visor was covering his face, nobody would know the difference, a trick learned from Ed Wood when they "replaced" Bela Legosi when he died in the middle of filming that epic bomb "PLan 9 From Outer Space"...

Help is full of 'tough to explain' bread crumbs. I have not found any anachronisms, i.e.things that belong to 1968 or so, that turn up in the movie. So, if there were later reshoots, they were perfectly careful in avoiding a tell-tale give-away, like a 1968 car model in a street scene, or a article of clothing that came from a later time year, i.e. after 1965. Of course, they would not have had to reshoot it all. Only about 20-25% of it at most.Probably less than that really....... But as far as John Lennon's face, I do see subtle things that seem a little different, but nothing definitive. Sometimes his skin looks more made up, his weight is consistently chubbier than his 1968-1969 skin and bones look. 1965 was his self-described "fat Elvis" phase; never truly fat, just about 35 pounds up...... 35 pounds is nothing. Trust me.

Most likely, it could have just been a stand-in used in a pickup shot, not the entire scene.
Then again, IMDB is notorious for having incorrect information, much more so than Wikipedia (as errors are usually weeded out fairly quick there). The whole thing could be bunk anyway.

I remember reading that John felt that was his "Fat Elvis" period...but he looked healthier in this film, and not like the emaciated state we later seen him, skin and bones.
