I dunno if anyone has read this book, but here a a few little things that i thought were interesting:
The Beatles: A Day In The Life by Tom Schultheiss.
"This is the most original and reliable account ever of the life and times of The Beatles. It draws upon over 60 sources for it's material. It reveals errors and contradictions in other accounts of the Beatles and puts the record straight."
November 1966: British newspapers carry stories that Paul McCartney was involved in a car accident late one night after leaving Abbey Road.
There are a few entries regarding Brians attempted suicide.. from september through to December 1966.
Jan 7 1967: Rumours start to circulate that Paul McCartney has been killed in a car accident.
Has anyone ever been able to dig up any of these newspaper articles from 66/67?

Wow. We've had hearsay about there being rumors as early as "Paul and Jane's engagement party" (or whatever the event was where he was supposedly chatting up Linda), but if there were reports this early, then that's fascinating. It almost validates that it didn't originate as a radio prank in the States in '69.
