Look at this painting of Paul. What struck me is that his head is turned down and his eyes have sadness in them. I wonder if the artist was trying to portray something.

That's a very good likeness. It does seem rather somber, more like a memorial portrait. Do you know who's the artist?

The artist's name must be Simon Birtall. It looks like he works from photographs quite a bit which is sort of like cheating. For a commissioned paintings, like a family portrait, I guess it's okay. www.birtall.co.uk/freelance-illustrator-artist.htmJust speaking for myself, I don't really like copying photographs. Though as a reference, they're usefull. Hey, I prefer working from life, but that's just me.

He did a much better job capturing Paul than Bill. Maybe he is trying to say something. Even in paintings, Bill never looks like the same guy twice in a row. The canvas doesn't lie.
