I've been googling "Bill Shepherd" for some time, came up with a couple who probably aren't the Pepperpot one. Here is another: "Bill Shepherd, an Englishman who was to work in Australia for about a year, had had experience as an arranger and conductor, and contrasted with his predecessor Robert Iredale in being more inclined to work with artists as a music director. Bill's resume goes back to a 1959 lounge instrumental LP as Shepherd and His Flock." The link is: www.columbia.edu/~brennan/beegees/65.singandplay.htmlLike I said I doubt that is our Billy, but if you know otherwise let me know.

Seems the name was common enough then. There are currently FOUR different people with my EXACT name in my town, and one more in a town nearby, that are (1) all musicians(2) all but 1 plays either piano or organ to some degree (3) all are relatively close in age (5) and we all play regularly somehwere. I don't have a number (4). I got a call once to fill in for somebody. 1990. I did the job. Later we figured out what happened. It worked out OK, but my songlist is not very rock and roll oriented, so I was not the ideal substitute. The other guy was 5 years younger, with the same straight hair, but a little darker. Same height, but he was more slender. Some of the waiters didn't even notice at first, but one asked me if I had lightened my hair since last time. The last time? I said, no, not recently, what a strange question. Then a manager asked me to do all those great Billy Joel songs that I had done last time. Huh? I knew 4 of his songs, period. Hmmm. Uh--oh....... We have since met, that particular other "me", and had a laugh about it. Turns out, we are WAY distant cousins. We have the same great-great grandfather, proven from records at a local historical society. So, in a way, a little bit of me is in him, and vice-versa. But if you saw us, well, he's the good looking one..............
