I remember the story of a scientist doing a comparison of the voices on early Beatle records, and later recordings. He found that John, George, and Ringo's vocies matched, while there were several different "Pauls". This scientist allegedly could identify people by comparing their adult voice with recordings of them as infants. The "voiceprints" were as reliable as fingerprints. Can this experiment be duplicated today, and at what cost I wonder?

You're talking about Dr. Truby's voice analysis... Dr. Truby threadI found a company called Sensimetrics Corporation. And I think the software you're asking about might be their SpeechStation2 which sells for $300. sens.com/speechstation/Appearantly they've done voice analysis on Bin Laden. I found an article from 2002 about their research, the interesting thing is that voice analysis is not as accurate as DNA or fingerprint identification. The article says first they measure the acoustics that give an idea of the physical features of a person's vocal tract - the shapes of the mouth, throat and nasal passages used in speech. Then they also study the style of speech - the timing, speed and pitch - while looking for distinctive intonations, Berkovitz said. That neither measurement is exact, but a close resemblance on both counts can give a good idea that the voice is a match. That you can say with good probability, but it's not an absolute certainty. I'm looking into how this is done - I found a page on it and I bookmarked it. Once I find the time I'll read through it and attempt to analyze as many separate samples as is possible. I'm presuming the spectrograms mentioned in the above sens.com link work along the same lines as the spectral analysis displays found in Audition 2.0 - but until I read through the page I've got bookmarked I'm talking straight out of my ass. I'll keep you all posted...

Deceptionist, I think that a good place to start would be with Sgt. Pepper. 6 songs "supposedly" sung by Paul. 5 by John ( counting the 1st Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band ). I believe that is the only Beatle album in which Paul sang more songs than John. Could it be because they were auditioning "voices" to see which songs went over better with the public Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Capitol 8XT-2653 Program 1 Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - John A Little Help From My Friends (sic) - Ringo ? Fixing A Hole - Faul ? Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite - John Program 2 Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds - John Getting Better - Faul ? She's Leaving Home - Paul ? Program 3 Within You Without You - George A Day In The Life - John Program 4 When I'm Sixty-Four - Faul ? Lovely Rita - Faul ? Good Morning Good Morning - John Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise) Faul ? The other day I was listening to The Beatles 1 & when Penny Lane came on I had an epiphany. I listened to that song as if for the 1st time, & to me, it sounds like it's John imitating Paul. Certain words are pronounced the way that John pronounces them. The accent gets thick at times. Could you analyze that in comparison with one of John's songs ? Thanks, dear...

ok - I don't really have time in the very near and forseeable future to conduct any kind of remotely accurate investigation... but until such a time presents itself, here is a link to what appears to be a fairly comprehensive explanation of voice analysis www.aaevp.com/articles/articles_about_evp10.htmand here's what I've already managed to cobble together spectral and wave analysis from 66-67 interviews [bigger than jesus/LSD] on all three occasions Paul/Faul is saying 'you know' media.putfile.com/You-know-my-Voice---Look-Up-the-Analysis

The bigger than Jesus interview is Paul. The LSD one is Faul. I'm on a computer now that doesn't have a working speaker, so I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow to hear it. Bummer...
