I was wondering did Faul ever have a tribute album or a concert in honor of John?
I don't recall any, but if someone could refresh my memory.
If he never did, doesn't anyone think that peculiar?
Would further prove that it's not JPM. OR else he'd have done something in John's honor.

None that I know of, but in all fairness, neither did George or Ringo. (to my knowledge)

The closest thing I can recall of is that he performed little tribute in the middle of a concert--I think he sang Strawberry Fields. He also wrote "Here Today" which was supposedly for John.

HERE TODAY (Bill)
And if I said I really knew you well What would your answer be? If you were here today.
Well, knowing you You'd probably laugh and say That we were worlds apart. If you were here today.
But as for me I still remember how it was before And I am holding back the tears no more I love you.
What about the time we met? Well I suppose that you could say that We were playing hard to get, Didn't understand a thing But we could always sing.
What about the night we cried? Because there wasn't any reason left To keep it all inside, Never understood a word But you were always there with a smile.
And if I say I really loved you And was glad you came along, Then you were here today, For you were in my song Here today.

It definitely seems to be written from Bill's perspective, not Paul's. When Paul & John met, there was no playing hard to get. I think the playing hard to get is a direct reference to John holding back on Bill. After all, he might LOOK like Paul, but he wasn't his old mate. Not in a million years !
Now the bit about the night that they cried, that's interesting. Maybe John finally let it all out with Bill. Again, he might not be Paul. However, since he was Paul's replacement, he understood how devastated John felt about the whole situation. I can see Bill feeling bad enough for John, that he would cry too. Especially if they had developed their own relationship by then.

Actually they all did tributes, I cant remember what they were called but they did do them.
It's funny how it took Sir. Paul nearly 2 years to come out with something semi-heartfelt about johns death.

Wasn't "All Those Years Ago" a tribute to John by George?
I didn't follow Bill's work in the past decade or so...even before the PID/PWR was ever realized. Just didn't get into it.

I think so, LR. That song is very poignant.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=85Smw33PKJAI'm shouting all about love, while they treated you like a dog -- when you were the one who had made it so clear, all those years ago. I'm talking all about how to give. They don't act with much honesty. But you point the way to the truth when you say, "All you need is love." Living with good and bad, I always looked up to you. Now, we're left cold and sad by someone -- the devil's best friend -- someone who offended all. We're living in a bad dream. They've forgotten all about mankind. And you were the one they backed up to the wall, all those years ago. You were the one who imagined it all, all those years ago. Deep in the darkest night, I send out a prayer to you -- now, in the world of light where, the spirit's free of the lies and all else that we despised. They've forgotten all about God. He's the only reason we exist. Yet you were the one that they said was so weird, all those years ago. You said it all, though not many had ears, all those years ago You had control of our smiles and our tears, all those years ago All those years ago. All those years ago.

I put a link to YouTube "When We Were Fab" in another thread. Here's "All Those Years Ago":
I'm shouting all about love, while they treated you like a dog -- when you were the one who had made it so clear, all those years ago.
I believe that George is referring to the clues that John worked so hard to leave.
I'm talking all about how to give. They don't act with much honesty. Just as George sings this, the camera is panning over a room full of reporters & photographers. But you point the way to the truth when you say, "All you need is love."
This seems to be the same philosophy that Valis believes in.
Living with good and bad, I always looked up to you. Now, we're left cold and sad by someone -- the devil's best friend -- someone who offended all.
I believe that George had a very hard time living with the guilt caused by Paul's death & replacement. He's talking about John's murder, and how it effected the world.
We're living in a bad dream. They've forgotten all about mankind. And you were the one they backed up to the wall, all those years ago. You were the one who imagined it all, all those years ago.
I believe that George is talking about The Powers That Be. I believe that when he talks about John being backed up to the wall, he's talking about the ultimatum given to John after Paul's death. John must've told George that he knew that he was going to be murdered someday.
Deep in the darkest night, I send out a prayer to you -- now, in the world of light where, the spirit's free of the lies and all else that we despised.
I think that's pretty self explanatory.
They've forgotten all about God. He's the only reason we exist. Yet you were the one that they said was so weird, all those years ago. You said it all, though not many had ears, all those years ago You had control of our smiles and our tears, all those years ago All those years ago. All those years ago.
He's talking about the clues of course. I think that John did his very best to protect them. He tried to keep it all together as best he could.
I noticed that there was a mixture of photos of Paul & Bill. Near the middle of the song, they show a Beatle glass rotating. Then they focus on a photo of Paul in the Neru jacket, with his bangs plastered across his forehead. He has a wide eyed look on his face. The next scene is from MMT, with the boys goofing around. Bill makes a similar face to the one Paul made in the previous scene. I'm pretty sure that was done on purpose, to show how unlike Paul he looks in that scene.
