afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5hRFWSQu6zHO--dJXjzMt9rF4Nf7QPaul McCartney had heart operation LONDON (AFP) — Beatles legend Paul McCartney has had a secret heart operation, media reports said Wednesday. The 65-year-old underwent a coronary angioplasty, a procedure which opens up the arteries to allow greater blood-flow, after complaining of feeling unwell, said the Sun daily. "Paul had been complaining about not feeling well and and saw a Harley Street specialist at the London clinic," an unidentified source told the tabloid newspaper. "Tests were carried out and the decision was taken to operate. Paul had the angioplasty in a private hospital. It was all very routine but any work on your heart is a big deal," he added. The Daily Telegraph's online edition reported that the operation was last autumn. McCartney's spokesman was not immediately reachable, but was cited by the Sun as saying it had been a "routine medical operation." McCartney, who failed before Christmas to settle an acrimonious divorce from his estranged wife Heather Mills, recovered enough to appear in a televised New Year's Eve show with Kylie Minogue. "Luckily Paul is in very good shape. He does regular exercise and is fit. He eats well and does not carry any excess weight," the Sun cited a friend of McCartney as saying. "He has always been in exceptional health, which is remarkable when you think of the rock and roll lifestyle he once had," the friend added.

I was watching said televised show on New Year's eve. Whoever it was didn't just have heart surgery, he was jumping up and down and being a clown generally and that was before he got on stage.....but it may well have been a pre-recorded affair. Mostly BBC creeps in the audience.
And he was way too tall to be PMC IMO.

Yeah, every time someone tries to debunk a particular person, THE MAN himself bunks that particular person right back and raises that particular person's credibility (in my mind, anyway). The story going around suggests that the actual surgery was more like late summer, which doesn't exactly correspond to "he will disappear" but it's enough to make me look forward to what's in store in 2008.

OR NOT. This comes from www.PaulMcCartney.com January 17, 2008. A MESSAGE FROM PAULHi everybody,
Happy New Year!
I hope it’s a great one for all of us.
There’s been a lot of stuff in the newspapers over the past few months and as most of it is completely inaccurate, I have not bothered to deny any of it.
There is one report though, that is causing concern amongst many friends of mine which was a recent report about a heart operation that I was supposed to have had.
People are ringing and texting me saying “are you ok?” and I hadn’t seen the report so I was puzzled by so many enquiries about my health. So I think it’s a good time to put this rumour to rest. What happened was, over a year ago during a routine medical examination, there was a minor irregularity which I needed to have tests for and which I have now been assured is completely fine. The media have only just recently reported an exaggerated version of this and that is why people have been asking me if I am ok. So this is where the story has come from. The media reports have, as usual, completely distorted the story, calling it an angioplasty, which is entirely untrue, and this is why so many friends have been concerned about my health.
I’m happy to say that I feel great and I have passed my most recent medical with flying colours.
I would like to thank all of you and my friends and relatives for your concern and I’m very happy to put your minds at rest, although I have secretly been enjoying all the sympathy I’ve been getting!
Once again, happy new year and remember…don’t believe everything you read in the media.
I look forward to a rocking 2008!
Love,
Paul
