I got 10 of 16 correct... I don't know who some of those people are Well, neither do I as a matter of fact. I did manage to score 12 out of 16, but that may only be because I guessed instinctively on some of them. Clue: Waaaay too much make-up on some of the fake-celebs. That's always a sure sign that something is being covered up. I think a persons mind tends to pick up clues instinctively. Not to give anything away, but celebrity imposters (or even impersonators) tend to look...well, off, somehow....that's hardly giving away anything. How much caffeine do they put in these diet-sodas I drink, anyways? Okay, back to my points. For example: Britney Spears, (a shamefully easy target, bad Vaggie ) is herself, from all appearances. and yet, she strikes me as a celebrity impersonator. Simply because I don't see her as a celebrity. I see her as a talent-syncing semi-young woman who really only ever had 1 real hit. "Ooops I did it one more time". You sure did Britney. The same song regurgitated over and over. It;'s deja vu all over again. It's almost pointless for Britney to have somebody impersonate her. Why even bother? She's a parody of the modern day pop singer. Which, to be perfectly honest, is a scary thought in and of itself. I certainly can't say that I look up to her. Myself, I don't pay a whole lot of attention to what the daily tattlers have to say about celeb's or famous musicians. I prefer hearing and learning all about artists and musicians from bygone days of yore. Like, whatever happened to the Crash Test Dummies? A positively ancient band from the goneby era known as the '90's with some great songs like:" The Superman Song", "MMMM, MMMM, MMMM, MMMM", "Swimming In Your Ocean", and "God Shuffled His Feet". They also did, (I think) Pulled Out. It's about a kid who likes to have his teeth removed by calling on his doggie and having (him or her) run with a rope that is tied to his tooth. Or jumping off a fence with....actually, nevermind. This is grossing me out. I'll stop right there. No wonder they basically died out right after that song came out. Never follow up a 5 + million selling (Worldwide) CD with a song about something nearly EVERYBODY dreads and then being all cute about it....blecchh. For my money, Kate Winslet is a real celebrity. Because she doesn't seem to care about all the fame and attention she gets. She finally caved in and lost some weight, not that she needed to. Just so some fat-cat suits in Hollywood would be able to profit off her hard work, experience and public image by withholding projects from her unless she slimmed down. What a bunch of cruel, sadistic, self-serving meenies they must be. ...It's okay Kate. You didn't jump the shark at all. Be brave. You've got "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" as proof-plenty of your acting chops. I scored 12 out of 16 on the celeb test link that JoJo so generously provided. Maybe Kate will score an Oscar nod next spring. She is somebody to look up to, IMHO.

Vagabond, [img src="http://galeon.hispavista.com/akostuff/img/Good-Post[1].gif"] ;D ;D Always a treat, thanks! Yeah some ARE pretty sad, I mean cmon, the Mr. Spock guy? Thank you for saying so, JoJo. And I also think the Leanord Scheme-boy picture was pretty silly. You can almost tell how embarrassed he is. I'll bet he wishes he had accepted the offer from Wal-Mart to stcok shelves instead of that 'posing' as Spock gig he's done. I didn't see a William Shatner pic' (or look-alike) on that phot-quiz. Perhaps it's just as well. How about a Shatner sound-alike who does 'impressions' of Shatner singing such odd gems as his terrifying cover of: "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds"?! How about if a Britney impersonator-sound-alike were to release one of her singles? How bad of a singer would she have to be. Maybe if they played it on the radio it would inspire Britney to retire early. Britney:" I've like...sooooo totally seen the light. I cannot GO ON torturing people with my awful, pre-recorded, live shows and bad techno-tronic-nursery-rhyme-non-singalong-able-uptempo-ditties and ballads with pumped up, (but still mind-numbingly lame) Bobby Brown covers thrown in to add insult to injury." I will no longer torture the world with my off key warbling and synthetic musical-offerings. Now, I too know just how bad I sound." ...Nothing personal against Britney. She seems like a mixed up, and (sorta') young woman...what is she, 23? But, still, a very generally nice one. Fame can do that to people. It's just that I prefer my music...ummmm....with, y'know, real sounds, instruments, notes and singing and stuff like that. ...Or am I just being greedy?!

It's actually "Oops I Did It Again" But I hate her too. She's killing music. Well, Britney plays her part in the (IMHO) gradual decline in popular music. I am not an expert, however, I guess I'm lucky that I was exposed to a lot of good music at an early age. Even though I may not have been around as long as other people who've grown up with most of the rock/pop era, I still find that I enjoy the older, established acts moreso than the new ones. Britney's more my generational influence in terms of the music that I'm growing up with---but she sucks. ;D Actually, Flaming Pie. I was refering to my version of "Ooops I Did It (Again) One More Time"...See below: Britney Spears. On her MTV appearance with Madonna, and singing her hit song(s)... Britney:"It is so truuuuuee. Madonna's breath is horrible. Not only did I get soooo totally sick after kissing her, but my head hurt really badly for weeks, afterward. In fact, my head hadn't hurt that much since the last..uhh...time I tried to ummm...whatta'-ma-call-it?
Oh yeah, since the last time I tried to think with my head really hard. You know, like, using your head for thinkin' about things that are so toootally hard to think about.. Wha' wus the question again?"
"Auughh. Madonna's kisser! Don't remind me already." Ooops I Did It (One More Time)
DA DA DUH.....DA DA DUH.....DA DA DUH.....
Oh, baby, baby, how was I supposed to know? That I was just repeating myself. I had a hit song, it sounded good, it sold real well. The video I made was real swell.
But all my records, are starting to sound, as one. I didn't notice, well maybe it's just as well.
Give me a word, give me a rhyme. Give me a clue, give me a sign. Oooops I did it, one more time.
Oh, maybe, maybe, my songs, sound the same to you. Just maybe, maybe, I should come up with somethin' new. But, I like repeating-repeat-repeat-repeating myself. I didn't notice, that I musta' put you through hell.
Oh, baby, baby, how did I ever sink, so low? Have you been to see my shows?
I learn new dance moves, I'm forgetting them as I go. I write my own songs, but critics tell me that they blow.
Give me a word, give me a rhyme. Give me a clue, give me a sign. Oooops I did it, one more time.
It's really a shame, my songs sound the same. I'm taking the blame, 'cause my tunes are all lame.
Give me a word, give me a rhyme. Give me a clue, give me a sign. Oooops I did it, one more time.
Oooops I didit-didit-didit-didit didit-one more one more time......
*Bows Ackwardly*

It's actually "Oops I Did It Again" But I hate her too. She's killing music. Well, ya know... it is what it is..... commercial pop music. (any of y'all heard Type O negative's awsome cover of Baby Hit Me One More Time? Excellent!) My main thing that makes any genre of music good (for me) is originality & a unique sound... or sounds. I just don't like it when an artist tries to sound like somebody else. And I can't break it down between old stuff & new stuff. My core favorite "weird" bands have been around since the early 70's & are still producing independent, quality stuff. There's been good stuff every decade imo. The 60's.. well 'nuff said. The 70's brought us stuff like David Bowie, Roxy Music, Sparks, The Ramones, etc.... along with avant garde bands that are still favorites, like Pere Ubu & The Residents. The 80's brought us stuff like The Cure, The Smiths, New Order, Sonic Youth... & DREAD ZEPPELIN! There probably aren't many metalheads here, but the 90's produced an exception bunch of metal bands that are still puttin' out some unique & very good music. I think bands like Korn & NIN are exceptional & continue to improve. The 90's was mainly metal for me. And now there's so many different types of stuff that I gotta keep up with, it's crazy. I'm collectin' stuff that touches on every musical genre except for uh... opera, broadway musicals, & uuhhhh POLKAS! I spend way too much on music... if I had an ol'lady around here, I'd be stayin' in the doghouse most of the time! Which I guess would be OK if the doghouse had a good sound system.

Brilliant threads, great points.
Eyes, your CD is EXCELLENT!!! Thank you again for sending the studio CD of you and your group. My roomate loved it; I'm an old broadway/opera/classical f*rt trying to get into appreciating the "other side" of great music, today's music (although I'll likely never create anything in those styles, that's OK)but it registered with him big time. Authentic. Rockin'. Alternative. Mixes sound good. I have more to say and ask you about it later.
Miss Vagabond, good to read your post.
It's true though:Everyone should just be true to themselves at all times and go right on out into the world and make their own kinda music, people! Even if nobody else sings along! March to their own drummer! Take a stand! Play it once more with feeling!
(embarrassing silence.........someone coughs, a snicker or two, two or three people clear throat...)
Ok, OK, you know what I mean. My dialogue coach suddenly ditched me last week. Now I must write all by myself.
(Thinks long and hard...)
OK, my sentiment is: Real music should "fill up" the listener. Formula music never hits the spot for very long.

Appearantly there's a show called Look-A-Like where they give make-overs to ordinary people so they look like celebrities. I've never watched it, I just found out about it while perusing youtube.
