I'm looking at the lyrics from the song and going to give my take on what they could mean....
Day after day alone on the hill...
Being on the mount of transformation, so to speak, the new and improved Bill dwells
The man with the foolish grin is keeping perfectly still...
Take a look at the dental work of Bill....(make reference to the thread "Did Paul Have and Old Eye Injury) Foolish looking indeed, keeping perfectly still....in dental chair waiting to get his fangs honed
But nobody wants to know him THey can see that he's just a fool...
It seems like the other members of the Beatles has anything to do with Bill....they know he's a fool...
And he never gives an answer....
as to whether he's really JPM or the replacement...
Sees the sun going down and the eyes in his head see the world spinning around..
His world does spin around...with lies on top of lies...
Well on his way his head in a cloud
Now he's Paul Mc Cartney, what more could any man ask for.....
The man of a thousand voices talking perfectly loud
THe man who sings differently, many of his Beatle songs are strangely different than JPM's voice...
Also could be referred to as the man of a thousand faces...
But nobody ever hears him or the sound he appears to make and he never seems to notice...
Never seems to notice that he's not the talent that JPM was...Nobody really hears him.....We are hearing an image of JPM...the sound he appears to make..when he sings...
Nobody seems to like him They can tell what he wants to do
Again, none of the Beatles like him, because he's not really JPM, of course, they can tell what he wants to do..with the fame...the money..the music...
And he never shows his feelings....
Notice whenever Faul is being interviewed..he never shows emotions....When talking about John or the Beatles, there's no emotions shown about that time of his life. It's as if he's been given a labotamy, and has no emotions and does not know how to show those emotions.
or maybe he's been mentally altered through mind control and identity theft....
Just my observations about the music, and the information of him being a replacement and not really JPM....and observing Faul in tv appearances. He's a drone clone...

In my opinion, Fool on the Hill is not about the replacement. I don't think he had that horrible of a relationship with the others that they would willingly write a song trashing him.
I believe it's about James Paul, either as a corpse not being found by passerbys for days, or as a man hiding out somewhere with a fragile mental state.

I think the melody & chorus were written by JPM, and Lennon finished it after his death. www.eosdev.com/Illustrations_Quotes/Cyndi/thefool.jpg-- the tarot of the fool -- the court jester. JPM was writing about himself... John was writing about...? Do folks agree some of that footage from MMT in France is JPM?

I agree with wings, I could understand that it would be about Faul if it was during Let It Be or Abbey Road but during MMT he was still new and was still doing a good job at "Fixing a Hole"

Possibly the close up of the eyes, maybe the profile shot too. The figure running in that long trench coat does not seem to be. William appears to have been a lanky, leggy proportioned man in 1967. Several scenes of James Paul in Help! indicate that he was medium height and boxier, with not especially long legs. For instance, in the studio playing "You're Gonna Lose That Girl", and the beach "Another Girl". He seemed to have a had a moderate build, moderate proportion.

There were some pics from Help that shows a "beefier" JPM....Maybe it was a time when they were all going through their "Fat Elvis" period....before going vegetarian....
It's been a long time since I've seen the MMT footage so I'm trying to picture what you are referring to.
Who knows that JPM may have had some demo that would become Fool On The Hill and Bill took off with it...He took JPM's identity, so why not abscond with his music? If that is the case, one can only imagine what it would have sounded like had JPM recorded it....

And don't forget about JP's bow-leggedness. Also Bill has hyper extended knees and JP didn't.

I always thought that still #7 doesn't look like JPM at all!

That silhouette from FOTH reminded me of something somewhat similar from the closing credits of Bill's "In the World Tonight" DVD. The shot: And then rotated to more closely match the FOTH still:

THe tip of the nose on the left pic appears to look more like JPM's profile than the aged Bill/Sir Faul and the chin looks more prominent on the left. We have to take into account the aged Bill's face looks fuller, and the jawline looks different. And over time he looks less like an aged JPM would have looked, and more like a strange elderly man trying to look young.
As one can see over the years, Bill has removed many features that made him look like JPM, removal of contacts, possible fake nose tips or chin tips...if in fact he did wear prosthesis parts or in plastic surgery, had the features altered as time passed since becoming Paul/Faul.
When he first came on the scene, that was when he looked the most like JPM that he was ever going to be. As time went by, and the aging process took place, sagging skin, muscle, wrinkling that comes with normal aging, as well as the changes that would have taken place since having so much plastic surgery. The hairstyle was less Beatle=esque and more like the 1970's mullets. By the time of recent years, he certainly doesn't look like an aged JPM...he just looks like an old freak.

Is that video capture where he seems to be in a phone, shouldering a videocam, is that from a song video of SirPaul's?

I agree with the doc. You just said a mouthful. After all, when Bill moved into Cavendish, I'm pretty sure that everything was as it was when Paul left. What was to stop him from going through Paul's desk, his files, even his GARBAGE to get his hands on Paul's work. He made Another Day his own. I would love to know what that would've sounded like if Paul would've had the chance to record it. I didn't know that. Thank you, Darkhorse. Exactly ;D And that we are ;D What confuses me is why in the MMT captures his eyes change from a light brown to hazel to medium brown. AAAAHHHHH !!!!!!!

What a coincidence! I've been writing a Paul-is-dead fic, and right before reading this post I wrote this! ;D John turned to William as they sat together in William's sun/cum/music room. "I don't know how to break this to you," he said. "It's bad news, isn't it?" William said. "No, it's good news. I am working on a song, based on a dream I had. The dream was about you." "What was it about?" You were standing atop a hill. All around you were people who had been your fans- I gather- they had found out who you were, and what had happened to your predescesor. Some were crying and screaming, some were screaming threats, but most were pointing and laughing. And you know what? You were smiling and laughing yourself. You didn't have a care in the world." "Oh, that sure sounds like me." "Here are the lyrics, John said. "I would like them set to music." Willie wondered if John had detected his sarcasm. "In the dream....was I stoned?" "I believe that in the dream....you'd entered a state of awareness where you didn't care anymore." "I see," said Willie, prickles forming on the back of his neck. "The lyrics sound interesting. "I'll see what I can do with them....." You can access my fic at www.geocities.com/colouringpurple/paul.html ;D

I wonder how much of JPM's music did Faul claim? Whether it was just written material with no music, or demos that Faul tried to duplicate....it just has me curious as to how much he took.

He's looking in the direction awaiting for the Sun King to arise.... only to see a reflection of himself, the man he was, or what he wanted to be.. The imagery of Bill looking in the direction of his former self, his younger self...looking in the direction of what appears to be the Sunrise.... Although it wasn't something he created, but someone posted in the forum, it just gives the image of Bill looking at his past... Just a little imaginative imagery in the AM....

Although it wasn't something he created, but someone posted in the forum, it just gives the image of Bill looking at his past... Just a little imaginative imagery in the AM.... That is a marvelous comparison, very symbolic, very relevant to the whole question here. It primarily attests to ideas of dreams, ambition, legend, confidence, and belief in the music, belief in the legacy of the music and continuing the richness of what began as the Beatle Experience. I think it also points up to the idea that between Neil Aspinall and Sir Paul, and of course others, perhaps many, a through-line has been maintained from ought to naught, from start to finish (though the Beatles will have no end point) from Alpha to Zed. (I don't know what we English speakers have against Omega. But anyway....) It also completely blurs the Paul/Faul/Bill line. There is no seperation between their different but complimentary contributions---one picks up where the other has left off---Sir Paul for James Paul AND James Paul for Sir Paul. Think about it. And this arrangement services the goal, which I do not completely understand, but have a glimmer only. Glow Little Glow worm, Glimmer, glimmer........
