I understand the first edition of the Hunter Davies authorized biography contained an image of Lennon's handwritten lyrics for Lucy/Diamonds, with interesting marginalia including a song listing order? has anyone a copy of this book or jpg of this image?

Yes and yes, hard to find for some reason, but there are a lot of handwritten things in random places in the book. I rotated the image three times, well you'll see why.

I see that he was a compulsive scribbler like me. All different directions.
Elbert Benjamin's church can be found in some discussions by googling. Found in countless web entries, he is mentioned by a couple of very conservative Christian guys who call everything a cult in their own internet listing which they assembled and put on the net in 1993 warning of a tide of cults everywhere; ironically, another website entry I found called those particular two fellows who made up the "1993 cult list" a pair of Satanists.
And your mother wears orange lipstick. Nyah-nyah-nyah.
The internet is a "name calling hell" sometimes.
Note: I find persistent and messy scribbling a good antidote for nerves.

HAHAHAHA!! ;D Oh, that's just soooooo Funny. Orange lipstick. Cool! Purple, black and red work best, though. You can end up reading too much into things. Not everything on the net is bad. But some people see bad things even when it doesn't apply. Cartoons, tv, movies... they can't all be bad. Can they? *** Scribbles list of character names from Peanuts cartoon ... in alphabetical order ... OOOOHHHh... Scaaaaady! ***

A little OT, but i found this and i wanna share with all
According to an article in the Daily Mail on June 15, 2005, the "Lucy" who inspired this song was Lucy Richardson who grew up to become a successful movie art director on films such as 2000's Chocolat and 2004's The Life And Death Of Peter Sellers. She died in June 2005 at the age of 47 of breast cancer. From the story: "Lucy was a few years older than Julian Lennon when he enrolled at the private Heath House School, in Weybridge, Surrey. But because John Lennon and the other Beatles used to visit the Richardson family's antique and jewelry shop, she knew the little boy. So when he became homesick and unsettled she would be called out of class to sit with him while he drew pictures. One of these pictures was of Lucy. Lucy's sister, Mary remembers 'One day John Lennon came into the shop and said, "Hello, Lucy in the sky with diamonds." We thought it was just John being John.' When a song with that name appeared on Sgt. Pepper, the Richardson family began to wonder. And when Lennon announced he had been inspired by his son's picture of a girl called Lucy, the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle came together. It was in a 1975 interview that Lennon said 'Julian came in one day with a picture about a school friend of his named Lucy. He had sketched in some stars in the sky and called it Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds. Mary, who still runs the antiques shop recalls, 'It was then we realized why he had been calling our Lucy, Lucy in the sky.' Lucy remembered the times when she would sit with Julian as he drew pictures. She was rather chuffed to realize she had inspired the song title, but was very modest about it: 'There was another girl called Lucy who thought the song was about her, but we always knew it was our Lucy.' Julian Lennon, has recollected his drawing in interviews: 'I obviously had an affection for Lucy at that age'"

Lay off the crack and try to pay attention Are you always this mean - spirited and insulting? Please, I don't speak down to other members. Why do you? Try to be nice and lay off the nasty comments. Btw, you never explained the reason for posting the link earlier. Which is why I had to guess at your point.. what you actually meant. Not everything's a conspiracy, y' know. Wait a minute! Are you upset because of my parody of Foreigner's "Juke Box Hero"? Y'know, "Puke Box Zero"... it was just a joke!

Lay off the crack and try to pay attention *tsk* Total, cmon now... He's joking, the crack pipe one is his fav.. Problem is, as is the case with emails, the "joking" part gets lost in translation without accompanying body language cues and such. It would still sound a little harsh regardless..

That wasn't a joke - I was confused about why he'd posted it. The fact is, TI's response was pretty blunt. I did not directly make an insult. I simply tried to figure out his point. This is the second time on two different forum's in a row .... if it's open season on me (For whatever reason). then maybe I'll just bow out quietly. I give up!

I've gotta say, whilst agreeing that we all obviously have a sense of humour and like to make fun (of ourselves more often than not), sometimes threads tend to get clogged down with banter that detracts from the original meaning and end up obselete.

I am not able to discern if all three topics are written in the same hand. Not the same pen IMO.
Lucy lyrics, tentative song order for Pepper, and information about the Elbert Benjamin book.
Can anyone here shed light on whether or not the handwritting styles come from one person?
I was interested in the Benjamin book. Clearly it interested John, or someone, enough to write it down. Maybe he was interested in what his church had to say. One wonders did he follow it up and get the book?
I looked online, on google, and the first couple of pages kept pointing me back to that webpage where a long list of "cults" get a poor review, or a total dressing down by the two authors. I had hoped to find something positive, or at least neutral and informative about Mr. Benjamin's work and organizations, in order to see what may have intriqued John enough to make note of the book. I did not see where to obtain a copy of the book, or find a decent summary.
I may look again.
I wanted to get past the negative few sentences about Benjamin that the two nay-sayers uploaded.
I was surprised to see another web-site refer to them as possible "satanists", as that made no sense to me. To say, rather, that the two critics are zealous and perhaps self-righteous makes more sense to me.

I think that from time to time John felt lost and wanted to know if there was any religion/sect/cult or whatever that could explain what it's all about for him. They had the eastern stuff which started c.1965 which george obviously felt akin too, and for a while John did too, but I think perhaps he realised it wasn't "him" so he checked out other things from time to time. You English are so darned polite. ;D I try my best!

Pepper secret pictures show a definite theme and knowledge of Satanism, occultism and Nazi/Hitler subversion in the U.S./British media and governments. I wonder how much Lennon and Harrison were actually interested in Hinduism and how much they were just following the orders of their handlers to act that way to promote mysticism. This could be similar to the Faul television interview promoting LSD, an American psychochemical weapon that the Pentagon had already used against the Vietnamese in the Vietnam War (US troops sprayed their Vietnamese POWs and guerillas with it to induce insanity and fear).

Some Beatles quotes about Lucy In the Sky with Diamonds
JOHN 1980: "My son Julian came in one day with a picture he painted about a school friend of his named Lucy. He had sketched in some stars in the sky and called it 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,' Simple. The images were from 'Alice in Wonderland.' It was Alice in the boat. She is buying an egg and it turns into Humpty Dumpty. The woman serving in the shop turns into a sheep and the next minute they are rowing in a rowing boat somewhere and I was visualizing that. There was also the image of the female who would someday come save me... a 'girl with kaleidoscope eyes' who would come out of the sky. It turned out to be Yoko, though I hadn't met Yoko yet. So maybe it should be 'Yoko in the Sky with Diamonds.' It was purely unconscious that it came out to be LSD. Until somebody pointed it out, I never even thought it, I mean, who would ever bother to look at initials of a title? It's NOT an acid song. The imagery was Alice in the boat and also the image of this female who would come and save me-- this secret love that was going to come one day. So it turned out to be Yoko... and I hadn't met Yoko then. But she was my imaginary girl that we all have."
PAUL circa-1994: "I went up to John's house in Weybridge. When I arrived we were having a cup of tea, and he said, 'Look at this great drawing Julian's done. Look at the title!' So I said, 'What's that mean?' thinking Wow, fantastic title! John said, 'It's Lucy, a freind of his from school. And she's in the sky.' ...so we went upstairs and started writing it. People later thought 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds' was LSD. I swear-- we didn't notice that when it first came out."
PAUL Jun. 04, 2004 - (By Randy Lewis - Los Angeles Times) : Paul McCartney says the Beatles’ hit “Got to Get You Into My Life” was a song about marijuana, “Day Tripper” was about LSD and “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds” was indeed about dropping acid. Lennon always said it was coincidental that it incorporated the drug’s initials, and maintained that his then 4-year-old son, Julian, came up with it when asked to explain a colorful drawing he’d made of a schoolmate. McCartney also has supported that explanation for the title, but in the Uncut interview says it’s “pretty obvious” the song itself is about an acid trip.
