I'm reposting this here since it is another clue as to Faul's identity before becoming a Beatle. Here's an interesting bit from this site (http://www.geocities.com/~beatleboy1/dbtnite.int.html) which has transcripts of many Beatle interviews. Thanks madtitan125, for the link! John and Faul were being interviewed on the Tonight Show with Joe Garagiola (JG) as guest host on May 14, 1968. Garagiola asks what other careers they might have chosen had they not succeeded in music. Note John suggesting "policeman" for Faul's career !!! I wonder why Faul was seemingly at a loss for words with that question ? ;D

There just seems to be TOO MANY of these types of clues for this not to be uncovered some day!

Unfortunately, NBC erased the original video of this program. The only known copy is what someone got from pointing a 16mm home movie camera at the tv screen. Someone else recorded the audio with a tape recorder.

Hey thanks for the info Revolver. Of course with the internet, one copy like that can multiply into a million. how could they erase that, sacrilage! Perhaps that was common back then, not to keep tapes stored of the less "important" stuff like talk shows and soap operas. The question I would have is were they still making kinescopes at that point. ABC did it up until 1970, way longer than necessary probably, so the affiliates could run a live show at a later date if they wished. They just stuck with it even though tape was making it unnecesary. When NBC stopped I don't know.

Of course, maybe the Beatles requested that it was erased because of John's quip about the policeman job? Can't be too careful, may start a rumour!
