I mentioned this before, but that mustache and glasses pic on the WA poster is confirmed as Paul by someone. Before there was a rapid conclusion on the part of many that it was Bill from many years back, no one seemed to realize that the "official" story is that it's Paul in the first place. The overall face resembles Paul strongly but too many specific things are different for it to be Paul. The face shape is different. This person has a long face where Paul's was round. The nose and eyes and hair are all different. I am gonna have to say that the pic is Bill. ;D

Is that CD set available?National Lampoon? If all this was done, and so much more-----we can never expect anything to change. I did not know about this set. Kinda staggering. But not half as staggerring as I will be after this Bailey's. Down the hatch. That was a lot of work, eyesbleed, thank you.Good thread!

There was the famous F. Lee Bailey "trial", where the famous attorney attempted to put PID "on trial". Starting with track 10 here: www.jojoplace.org/Shoebox/PID_MissHim/disk%204/And finishing with track 20. Some interesting characters are grilled, such as Fred Lebour, Peter Asher, and Allen Klein for example. Klein on track 19 claims that John Lennon himself told him he said "I buried Paul" during the recording because he "buried" Paul's sound in the mix. Of course Derek Taylor claimed that John said "I'm very tall", and finally John (in track 21) claims he said "cranberry sauce". IMO it always was cranberry sauce, it's quite clear no matter which version you hear, in fact that should have been the story they stuck to.. and yet there is this complete lack of communication amongst the players over this minor point. Strange. There is discussion about the black/red carnations on MMT. Bailey offhandedly remarks to one of the "witnesses" that he heard that it was originally shot with no flowers and they were painted on afterwards. Unlikely for the film version in 1967 of course.. Perhaps he was trying to ask if the black color was painted on in a backhanded way. Something I've never been able to capture with a video camera, or else I'd post it but.. I have a 16mm film version of MMT, and as I watch Paul's black carnation, occasional red peeks out around the edges.. "Paint it black" Peter Asher claims to have been there during the recording of Walrus and repeats the story that they tuned in King Lear from a show being broadcast on BBC.. Maybe saying they retrieved the recording from the BBC vaults would seem too much like deliberate planning? All accidental, all in fun.. seems to be the party line.

On the flip side of "St Paul" was "(The Legend of) William and Mary", part of this "PID hoax" CD being sold on Ebay. Well, hell yeah I gotta hear that song! (the others may be interesting) Waiting on delivery from England, will post here when I get it.

Kool! I've listened to the song Brother Paul, and I'll give it a 4. I suppose you could dance to it, but - meh - not much of a hook, really. I mean, once was enough.

Kool! I've listened to the song Brother Paul, and I'll give it a 4. I suppose you could dance to it, but - meh - not much of a hook, really. I mean, once was enough. Well, I've always loved "St. Paul", especially the Terry Knight version. The chorus of "So Long Paul" is sort of infectious. I like it. "The Ballad of Paul" reminds me a bit of David Clayton-Thomas of Blood Sweat and Tears, and it's delightfully bouncy. "Outro" is suitably absurdist for the topic at hand. The rest of it is pretty forgettable, unfortunately. Thanks JoJo! P(D)

I agree with P(D)enny, the best stuff was already out there, the only difference here is the inclusion of some B sides and a couple of other groups.. Not much there. I suspect The Ballad of William and Mary was something Terry Knight wrote completely unrelated to PID, just needed a B side.
