I'm posting this one because there are some weird things going on here.. Valis, when did you say this one was released? Late '66, right? A small one here, and then click on the link for a large version, so it doesn't run off the sides. www.jojoplace.org/Shoebox/Valis/QuickOne/thewhoq1big.jpg

Haha you dare me for a reply, well first of all the textballoon upper right says "THINK whatever áppened to Happy jack", and the song in a miraculous way points to the real shining JPM and also in a dark way about a happy jerk (Bill) who fell into the superprize (clearly visible in all 67 footage), and later on gotto deal with all the anger of the rest of the band. For the rest, what about the Sgt. Pepper moustache, the robot/human fce, the Beatle Bill on the total right of the picture. I'll send Joe some more stunning scans from this release, but please check the lyrics, and also to their b-sides of that period at www.thewho.net/I am totally convinced that a lot of artists close to the Beatles also released clues. If something like that happened around you would it not also be a supreme source of (veiled) inspiration. At the moment The Who and The Floyd are very revealing to me. but more 'Oo here to come "You didn't hear it You didn't see it. You won't say nothing to no one ever in your life. You never heard it Oh how absurd it All seems without any proof."-1921, The Who All Love Jan

Another gem from the Beatlefan magazine. An article has the two authors of the book "Drugs, Divorce and Slipping Image", discussing the time of the filming of Let It Be when George gets angry and walks out. (Issue vol 16, #4) He (John) states clearly and firmly"If George doesn't come back by Monday, we'll get Eric Clapton. I don't care." Paul and Ringo aparently don't take him seriously. John is quite serious about it. He makes a further comment at the end of the day, joking "I'll get Eric or Jimi" meaning Jimi Hendrix or whoever. Anybody can come in and fill in for George. George doesn't matter. That's pretty much the attitude he seems to take.and.. There's a very odd moment after George leaves, John starts playing the Who song "A Quick One While He's Away". The title is obviously ironic. After playing a brief bit of it, John says, "Take it George," so apparently he's not very broken up about George's absence.Or... it reminds him of another argument, one in which someone walked out on and never returned? John's sense of the cruel irony? (speculation of course) I also believe these guys don't get it at all, what John was hinting at.. And speaking of arguments, this song I posted a while back mentions an argument, saying the "song lyrics tell it all". www.jojoplace.org/Shoebox/MissHimSongs/BalladOfPaul.mp3Don't know which lyrics suggest that. (?) The lyrics to A Quick One: www.lyricsfreak.com/w/who,-the/146438.html Hmm I wonder..is that something someone said right after he saw Paul for the last time? And it became a private..not joke so much as a darkly ironic inside thing?

Great songs; they sound great. Great performers. Excellent. That song, "A Quick One", has a section, section two, goes like this: II. Crying Town Down your street your crying is a well-known sound Your street is very well known, right here in town Your town is very famous for the little girl Whose cries can be heard all around the world. A famous street? In a famous town? Famous for the "cries" (singing) of "the little girl"(euphemism, even Lennon used it) and this website: www.mathew.st/has this as the google info line: (qoute) Web site and live webcams of the world famous Mathew Street in Liverpool, UK - Birthplace of the Beatles. Paul's tenor helped make the Beatle's famous all around the world, thanks to the radio. Liverpool became known all around the world. Also, the" screaming of girls", plural, reacting to the Beatles, is still quite famous.

A Quick One (Happy Jack) (1966.) Who's second album.
If this album was released in 1966, I don't think that it's about PID. It might be a nod to the degeneration of Paul's relationship with Jane.

I always thought that " Won't Get Fooled Again" might have New World Order implications.
WON'T GET FOOLED AGAIN
We'll be fighting in the streets With our children at our feet And the morals that they worship will be gone And the men who spurred us on Sit in judgement of all wrong They decide and the shotgun sings the song
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution Take a bow for the new revolution Smile and grin at the change all around Pick up my guitar and play Just like yesterday Then I'll get on my knees and pray We don't get fooled again
The change, it had to come We knew it all along We were liberated from the fold, that's all And the world looks just the same And history ain't changed 'Cause the banners, they all flown in the last war
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution Take a bow for the new revolution Smile and grin at the change all around Pick up my guitar and play Just like yesterday Then I'll get on my knees and pray We don't get fooled again No, no!
I'll move myself and my family aside If we happen to be left half alive I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky For I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya !?
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
There's nothing in the street Looks any different to me And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye And the party on the left Is now the party on the right And the beards have all grown longer overnight
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution Take a bow for the new revolution Smile and grin at the change all around Pick up my guitar and play Just like yesterday Then I'll get on my knees and pray We don't get fooled again Don't get fooled again No, no!
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Meet the new boss Same as the old boss
From the wikipedia:
Like many songs, the meaning has been debated by listeners for a long time. One interpretation is that it expresses disenchantment with the counterculture and supposed "revolution" of the 1960s. For this reason, the song was banned in South Korea until the emergence of democracy there in the early 1990s; copies of Who's Next sold there omitted it. The song's final lines are "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss," which many take to be an expression of dissatisfaction with the results of the revolution. In an April 2006 editorial for Time magazine, retired Lieutenant General Greg Newbold referenced the song, calling it an "antiwar anthem" that "conveyed a sense of betrayal by the nation's leaders, who had led our country into a costly and unnecessary war in Vietnam".
