Now that I'm in Journalism, we are supposed to keep up on current events because we will be tested on our knowledge from time to time. However, I don't watch TV (all the news on TV was trash anyway) and I was wondering what sites (preferably ones with RSS feeds to subscribe to) offer the most unbiased news with the least disinfo?

I would subscribe to a newspaper and read it as thoroughly as possible. I know that's not what you are after, but your prof is no doubt looking for an awareness of what's being reported in MSM so.. (I'm sure he reads the paper as a source) Can't you get a student discount on the NYT?

Well actually I get RSS feeds from ABC News, BBC, NYT, and Reuters. But I was wondering which of these would be considered the best.

I generally use BBC for school stuff because it covers so much. If not, I use NYT. Those seem to be teacher favorites at my school, at least.

IMO that's like asking which part of the cow is the healthiest to eat.. But you are a student with a course to pass, and so perhaps stick with the most "prestigious" sources. If you want to know what's really going on..all you need to do is look..(wasn't that a clue?)

the best source for news is ofcourse your infinite immortal spirit which only speaks when you get quiet. for the rest I get my news from alternative sources like www.prisonplanet.comI daily check the headlines on my videotext, but unless something really weird goes on it doesn't take me more than a few seconds. Whenever a big disaster goes on (like Katrina, the 7/7 bombings) I immediately turn on the mainstream news just to catch them in their lies, the useful info they give at the moment itself but is never repeated. All Love Jan

What is an "RSS feed"?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. Web sites that have frequent changing content can offer an RSS feed, which enables you to subscribe to that feed so that your email program automatically goes to that web site and downloads the new articles or audio or whatever. It's just a way for you to stay in touch with the web sites that you like, without having to navigate every day to each one individually in your browser. -j
