Since Denny left the Moody Blues in 1966, I was thinking if maybe the 1st "Faul" could've been Denny instead of Neil Aspinall. I really have to look over photos of both men to try to figure this out. If anyone else has the inclination to do so, please feel free to do it. I won't be on the computer much longer today. ;D

Have you seen pics of Julian lately?
Not to change the subject, but the dude with the shades, is that the "Esteban" dude that is selling guitars on one of those home shopping channels?
How does Denny look like Faul now? Except old...

... to change the subject again..... I went to a big party recently that was our 1st Annual Sherwood Park Hippy Reunion (the big park was our 2nd home & main meeting spot)
I saw lots of old friends that I haven't seen in 30-35 years. ..... that was a rather frightening & harrowing experience.!
What happened to everybody? Yikes! I usually don't hang out with old farts like that... they're such party-poopers.... & have really boring tastes in music! ;D

That's hysterical, eyesbleed. It must've been a real trip being a hippy in Texas ! ;D I am getting this frightening mental image of a hippie with a 10 gallon hat, wearing chaps and the lovebeads....Something like if you crossed "Easy Rider" with Tex Mex "Ten Gun Justice"....Or better yet, Jerry Garcia with a cowboy hat riding a horse strumming his guitar with a wagon of dead heads following behind. It reminds me of someone who had gone to their class reunion and seen balding men and wrinkled, and thinking "How did I graduate with so many old people?" One feels young, but when you see others you graduated with who look so old, you wonder, what happened to them?" TIME Time marches on....in the form of wrinkles, stretchmarks, cellulite and vericose veins.

For attire try to imagine hair down to my ass & a red white & blue fringe jacket with 12in. long white fringe down the sleeves "hey, peace dude... wanna smoke this?" ...sure wish I still had that silly jacket!

Hey 4KH, I looked it up 'cause I was wondering if he was in my area, and you negected to mention this was the hippiefest!! From the venue's' site: HippieFest 2006 Starring Mitch Ryder, Rare Earth, Country Joe McDonald, Felix Cavaliere's Rascals, The Lovin' Spoonful, Mountain with Leslie West and Corky Laing, Badfinger with Joey Molland, Melanie, Canned Heat, Denny Laine and Master of Ceremonies Wavy GravyWow, I'd love to see most of those groups, although I suspect some are down to one original member at this point. (Badfinger being a good example, although for obvious reasons) No matter, what a party!

What a party is right! Denny Laine was the first act! He sang quote: "Something I wrote for Wings" unquote, Go Now, and Band On the Run. It was eerie how much, at times, he resembles Faul in both appearence and voice, but ONLY at times. For instance, when he was singing "Stuck inside these four walls" etc. you'd never know the difference. But when it came to "In the village they'll be searching for us everywhere, but we never will be found" his voice is much raspier than Faul's. No one would be fooled. As for the show itself: Mitch Ryder, 9 on a scale of 10. Rare Earth, 10 on a scale of 10 Country Joe McDonald, 7 Felix Cavaliere's Rascals, 6 (Too "Las Vegas") The Lovin' Spoonful, 0 - I hated whoever they were. A total fraud. No real ones, and totally "wrong". Mountain with Leslie West and Corky Laing, 10 Badfinger with Joey Molland, 10 Melanie, (What can I say? ;D Bad, but what I expected.) Canned Heat, 20 on a scale of 10. Totally hot. Awesome. Incredible. And strange. A Boogie fest by boogeymen. Denny Laine 9 and Master of Ceremonies Wavy Gravy 8 Order of appearence: Denny Laine, Badfinger, Country Joe McDonald, Mitch Ryder, Canned Heat, "Lovin Spoonful" NOT[/b] Melanie, Rascals Rare Earth Mountain Worth the price of admission for sure. www.tickets4u.com/SearchResults.asp?EventHeadlinerID=114745Hippiefest Tour Schedule 8/13/2006 5:00 PM Brookhaven Amphitheatre (Farmingville, NY) Hippiefest 8/25/2006 7:30 PM New England Dodge Music Center (Ctnow.com Meadows) (Hartford, CT) Hippiefest 2006 8/27/2006 6:30 PM DTE Energy Music Theatre (Clarkston, MI)

Hey thanks for the quick summary... sounds cool! Yer scoring of everybody was just about what I woulda guessed, with a couple maybe bein' scored a little higher than I would've expected. ..... those ol'farts are too old to be gettin' a little higher! (it's Hank III in 2 weeks for me & I already know how that'll be scored.... with 10 bein' the best.... he'll get an 11.)

I saw Melanie in Manhattan in the late seventies in a small venue in the village. In fact, I saw her at least 3 times & I remember going backstage to meet her at least once. She was excellent. I wonder what happened to her

I wonder what happened to her Well, probably nothing. With Melanie, you either like her or you don't, and I don't, which is why I didn't rate her performance numerically. I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised, but no... And on one of her tunes she lost pitch and derailed her back-up singers (her son and daughters) for a verse. Probably wasn't a bad performance if you were a Melanie fan.

It's no coincidence, Denny's voice was blended into the mix on many Wings songs. Sometimes he would sing alone, and then the Bill voice would sing the next verse alone or the blend would appear. A good example of this is "Getting Closer" from Back to the Egg. On that song, you may be fooled that it's a "McCartney voice" throughout, that's how close a call it is. I should mention that the outtake illustrates this better than the final reease. It's also notable that with the Breakup of Wings, (and the not so amicable departure of Denny) that Bill didn't perform in public for ten years, with a few exceptions.. (the disastrous Live Aid performance with a malfunctioning microphone being one)

That is strange that Bill didn't perform live for 10 years after the dissolution of Wings. I remember reading something interesting on TKIN awhile ago. I think that it was written by either SK or BP ( both the same person of course ). He said that he saw Bill live recently, in Rome I believe, and that Bill was lipsinching to Paul's songs. I forget which songs he mentioned. I think one of them was We Can Work it Out.
