As I sit here listening to "The First Book of Kings", I find myself wondering if there's any reason to believe these tapes are actually connected to the Beatles. What is the story on these? If it is them, they must have been bored silly! The psalm singing sounds like it could be them. I could see it. Locked up in a hotel room, and perusing the Gideons' Bible. Here's the tune to "The Lord's My Shepherd" that they are applying to the text: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HndQZlmJPpc

There are other recordings similar in sound quality, some with them on the street asking directions from annoyed passers-by for example. It's them, but don't read much into this other than entertainment value for it's randomness really.

Alf Bicknell threadTo provide security for his family, in 1989 he [Alf Bicknell] tried to sell five tapes of the Beatles, recorded in 1963 and 1964 on a portable recorder which they had carried with them. The tapes - given to Bicknell by John Lennon - had the Beatles reading from the Bible and singing their favourite hymns, The Lord Is My Shepherd and There is a Green Hill Far Away; Paul McCartney singing Over the Rainbow and reciting nursery rhymes with a child; and George Harrison composing his first song, Don't Bother Me. The band is also heard assuming comic voices to ask residents of Weston-super-Mare the way to the local golf course.
