From Wikipedia: Carnival Of Light: A 15-minute experimental track recorded during the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band sessions. The recording has not surfaced on released or bootleg recordings. Carnival of Light has proved one of the most sought-after unreleased Beatles tracks, and fans were dismayed that The Beatles, having advanced it for inclusion on Anthology 2, decided to withdraw it as a poor use of 15 minutes' disc space.Ilras sent me this, and while we don't know for sure that's it's genuine, (correct me if I'm wrong Ilras) we thought you might find it interesting: Carnival of Light fragment

What would happen if that was played back in reverse? It didn't sound like anything to me. Perhaps because it was not the complete piece.

The title is similar to "Carnival of Souls," a 1962 suspense-horror movie. Carnival of Souls features organ music, like that in "For the Benefit of Mr. Kite." The poster of Carnival of Souls seems to have been copied in its artwork style and design in the cover of the PWR-clue-filled cover of the Dec. 1966 album, "Oldies but Goldies:" Carnival of Souls is about a woman who survives a crash of the white car with her inside, that has plunged into water. She escapes and is the sole survivor of a group of women, and then she becomes the organist of a nearby church, but is haunted by the image of a deformed, demon-like man, who appears to her in person, on a windowpane image, etc. There is a twist ending, maybe you have figured it out, that is similar to An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge, and a 1960 (two years before the movie was made) Twilight Zone episode "The Hitch-Hiker"in which we see, playing the waitress character, MITZI MCCALL of Charlie Brill and Mitzi McCall..... Here is the Twilight Zone episode (part one of three) of ""The Hitch-Hiker" on youtube, but where is "the waitress"? Mitzi isn't in any of the three parts of the youtube series. In part three, there is a mention toward the end of "a diner in Tuscon" (Arizona) but there is no waitress, nor a counterman (Russ Bender). Did the episode get cut after its original showing in January 1960, or was Mitzi's appearance cut from the first episode before its original airing? www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVsieX_IMnQ

Carnival of Light....Being for Benefit of Mr. Kite does have a carnival feel to it...
When JPM's "accident" occurred at 5 o clock, the deepest dark of night right before dawn... when I think of car wrecks I think of headlights, flashing police lights, and ambulance lights.... Maybe in a twisted sense of mind carnival of light is all of the lights at an accident that happens at night...
Reminded of the music in A Day In The Life right before the middle part that is actually JPM's singing, and a similar series of sounds leading up to the final note at the end of the song, sounds to me like the sounds of an accident. Sirens, squealing tires, screams..that is what it reminds me of...

The orchestral crescendo in " A Day in the Life " always creeps me out. I still can't listen to it without fast forwarding past it. I can see how it can be representing an accident scene or the horror of a soul as it is forced out of it's body.

Someone on the COS imdb site also noted that the organ music is similar to Pink Floyd ..... and someone signed An Overlooked Masterpiece "beatle_paul8" ! (It wasn't me):

I remember on PBS, they had a "Making of Sgt. Pepper" program. I remember George Martin talked about that organ music from Being For the Benefit of Mr.Kite. He said that he, John and someone else had played wurlitzer organs in the style of calliope music. He said he then took the tape, cut it to bits, threw it up in the air, left them fall to the floor, and taped them back together randomly. Which would make sense that some of it sounds like a whirly sound of calliope, and some of it was backwards....
But there have been parallels and similarities to Pink Floyd on another thread. So having the synchronicity of recordings could have happened. Or it could have been deliberate to mimic the style of some other obscure music.
Hey,it was the 60's man...

"Carnival of Light" has not yet appeared on any release, be it official or a bootleg recording. However, a minute-long track claimed to be an excerpt from the song containing backwards, sped up electric guitar noises has appeared on various filesharing networks.
A fake. Why would Faul, Ringo, or anybody else, who had that release it on various filesharing networks?

If it's just instrumental backmasking, anybody with some musical abilities and alot of technical skills could fake recordings that appear to be from the Pepper era.
It's the voices of John or George or someone else who was part of the Beatles' circle of people that would make it clearly a recording from that era. Then you would know it's truly a Beatle recording.
