AKA "Fly on the wall". From: www.answers.com/topic/beatles-bootlegsIn January of 2003, following an investigation by The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry and London detectives, police raids in England and the Netherlands recovered nearly 500 original Beatles studio tapes, recorded during the Let It Be sessions. Five people were arrested.
It has been assumed that these people formed the main division of Yellow Dog, which released these session tapes under what became the 38-album series Day by Day. The Let It Be session tapes are in the form of Nagra Tape Rolls, which were used to record audio to later synch to film for inclusion in the film Let It Be.There are the unedited versions, and also numerous efforts at singling out the best musical takes. I'm posting rolls 125-129, there are some interesting conversations. Nothing "oh wow, I can't believe that got out", just educational. (way to sell it, lol) Still, it's funny listening to the off the cuff comments, such as someone asking "who was John wearing the other day?" Bill answers: "a celebrated Japanese actress". ;D They go on to discuss the walking on eggshells environment concerning dealing with John and having Yoko as something as an appendage. Roll 125: about at 12:30, there's a weird story about Bill being told to get lost while he's hanging around outside a Harlem schoolyard. Roll 126: Talk from the director in the beginning of the roll about how the "documentary" will be seen as a success or failure depending on whether they are "hiding things". Roll 127: Bill and Linda show up, and from then on, after playing a couple of records on the "Gramaphone", and Bill giving the origin of Ob La Di Ob La Da, they talk at length about John and Yoko. Give it a listen, it's worth it.. Edit: Use this link, they are in this folder: www.jojoplace.org/Shoebox/Nagra_Tape_Rolls/

More from the Tape rolls, this is 136A, with the jamming edited out, just sticking to the conversation. The setup: we have Michael Lindsay-Hogg, the director of LIB, John and Bill. They are talking about the upcoming concert again, and the need to be flexible, first about the time frame, but then John seems to also define "flexible" as the song catalog they will be able to play. John: (singing) No other love have I.... MLH: What's that from? John: Oh, the old shows. MLH: (I think) I want a shot of this lads Bill: I want a shot of this lads! Baby's in Black/If I Needed/Tripper... John: I mean that's how flexible we can be.. Bill: I Feel Fine/Yesterday...I Wanna Be Nowhere Man/Paperback/Long Tall.. You get it? You get the sound Reg? Sound of a list.. Have a listen.. www.jojoplace.org/Shoebox/Nagra_Tape_Rolls/136Aconversation.mp3

This must have been right after George walked out. At the beginning, Faul/Bill says "If George comes back...".

This one, if it's for real.. is pretty amazing.. Bill comes strolling in, singing "hush pretty darling" to himself, and is handed an envelope by someone: Bill: thank you chief Michael: What's it say, what's it say? Is it your birthday? Is it your birthday? Bill: Max Wax... (a letter talking about Mary Hapkins) But anyway.. This roll was recorded on Jan 14... Is there any other possible interpretation, what the.. home.comcast.net/~joej7272/141Aedit1.mp3And later in the same roll, a priceless speech by John, and he is bent it seems on abusing poor Bill, and when you listen you may wonder if there's any meaning to this, seems like John is hinting that Bill used to be a priest/minister? Bill seems to either confirm, or just be playing around, they are perhaps following John's lead, making up a good "bit" for the cameras. At the end though.. Bill: An evening with Barry Mugridge.. Ringo: (quite pointedly) Watch...Out... for the spy mics... home.comcast.net/~joej7272/141Aedit2.mp3

The Beatles. Always. Music AND comedy. John's playful chiding. I'd be willing to bet that Yoko was forever captivated by John's humor. I know I am, and I've only heard snippets of it here and there. I strongly feel that Yoko still misses John every single day. And, yep, Ringo was a stitch there. ;D ....where.....uhm......*ahem*........uhm-uhm-uhhhmmm. yes, (cough) BTW, where ARE the mics?........is this thing on....can you here me in there...........(sound of DrR knocking on every single surface in the room....)

As I listen to these tapes, it is apparent that they were still having fun, and approaching the whole crazy situation of filming the "rehearsal" with humor. Bill was polite, going along to get along, in spite of what we see in Let It Be, the nasty scene with him and George, I'm starting to suspect that the reason that George was so angry was because of issues with John and Yoko, Bill had nothing to do with it. Bill of course made an easier target, messing with John was always a BAD idea.
John was..not easy to get along with, and made some cutting remarks, as can be seen in the movie, and the others talked at length (behind his back) about how to deal with the JohnandYoko personna.
I don't know about this dialogue of John's, but Bill seems to become uncomfortable, I know some video would help of course. There's something under the surface, JMO.
As for "is it your birthday.." that just hangs there, begging for an explanation..
But on the other hand, it could mean, "are you getting good news", or a big check, something like that.. Hmm, that may make more sense really, oh well..

The book called: "Get Back, The Unauthorized Chronicle of the Beatles Let It Be Disaster", had a line that made me curious. My Back pages.. It's curious that the author chose not to reveal what the line is? I guess to get this published, they had to edit it carefully, avoiding getting too specific about certain things, so as to keep Apple's lawyers at bay. Well I found the line, and it was what I suspected in the first place: www.jojoplace.org/Shoebox/Nagra_Tape_Rolls/Nagra_53A_Clip.mp3About 10 seconds in: Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.bobdylan.com/songs/backpages.htmlIt's funny that Paul seems to need to talk of the early shows in the third person, i.e. by observing the old shows on film, The Beatles appeared motivated. Why not say WE were motivated back then??

Listen to when he says "Tripper" in particular. Listen to how surprisingly North American his voice sounds. We are perhaps getting an idea of what Bill really sounded like.

Bill seems to refer to them or pre-'67 Paul in the "third person" a lot.
I wonder, have we ever caught him talking like that about anything from the point we suspect he took over? If we can find some instance of it, then this is just a dead angle to follow, but if not, then it's another drop in the bucket. If memory serves though, I can only remember him saying "we," such as "we never performed Sgt. Pepper live."

In that clip Bill also says "yeah, but you used to do it lads!" instead of "we used to do it." Then he appears to catch himself and returns to "we had a lot more incentive then." (I think that's Bill saying that.) followed by "but we did..." I can see why George would be a bit cynical about Bill acting as cheerleader, getting them to remember how great "they" were together before he had even joined the group!
