Aspartame linked to tumors in rats

A New York Times story (registration required) reports that an Italian study by Dr. Morando Soffritti has found a strong link between aspartame (NutraSweet) and tumors in rats.

From the article:

The research found that the sweetener was associated with unusually high rates of lymphomas, leukemias and other cancers in rats that had been given doses of it starting at what would be equivalent to four to five 20-ounce bottles of diet soda a day for a 150-pound person. The study, which involved 1,900 laboratory rats and cost $1 million, was conducted at the European Ramazzini Foundation of Oncology and Environmental Sciences, a nonprofit organization that studies cancer-causing substances; Dr. Soffritti is its scientific director.

The American drug company executive respopnsible for unleashing carcinogenic, toxic "NutraSweet" (tm) aspartame upon mankind is guess who? None other than herr Donald Rumsfeld who personally pushed the drug at Searle pharmaceuticals and made sure it got rammed through the U.S. FDA despite serious reservations and objections to its toxicity, potential cancer causing properties, and neurological damage effects, even then. "The Don" Rumsfeld was a top executive at both Searle and the infamous Monsanto corporation that mass produced gentically engineered, carcinogenic and acutely toxic seeds for agriculture.

I hope this study leads to it being removed from the world market. I know from personal experience that it triggers headaches and seizures. Thanks Don!

Which is why I have cut down to a mere 6 cans a day of Aspartame.
Any less and I would be a coward. A man has to face his headaches and seizures head on. To avoid aspartame would be to run away from them. Even if it means a psychotic break, how can I shrink from my duty at the grocery store of stocking up on "equal"-laced diet sodas? It wouldn't be American.

You wouldn't want me to be un-American, now would you, even even my mental health were riding on it?

When they come haul me away, kicking and screaming in a delusional fit, at least I'll be able to wave my flag high and know that I did it for my country.

Well, I'll leave the guns to other folks who are comfortable with them. Like good old mom.

I'll keep the pie. Loaded with Equal. And wash it down with a
diet Fanta orange Zero. Gotta keep my carbs down. No matter how crazy it makes me.

I heard it also grows hair on the palms during a full moon. ;D It is quite addictive from what I've observed. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones that gets an immediate negative reaction, so I just avoid it.
