How long until we find out that he had a copy of Catcher In the Rye? Man Decapitates Passenger Aboard Greyhound Bus In Manitoba Last Updated: Thursday, July 31, 2008 | 8:35 AM ET A passenger repeatedly stabbed and then decapitated another person aboard a Greyhound bus travelling through Manitoba overnight, a witness said Thursday. Police officers spent the night examining a Greyhound bus where a passenger was reportedly stabbed and decapitated late Wednesday. (John Woods/Canadian Press)RCMP would not confirm the reports, only saying that a "major incident" took place around 9 p.m. Wednesday evening on the bus as it drove along the Trans-Canada Highway en route to Winnipeg from Edmonton. A man has been taken into custody, but police remained tight-lipped about the case. The bus pulled over west of Portage la Prairie, a city about 85 kilometres west of Winnipeg. Passenger Garnet Caton told CBC News on Thursday that the attacker had been sitting beside the victim, who was asleep, with his headphones on. Caton said he heard a "blood-curdling scream" and saw the man holding a large "Rambo" hunting knife above the victim, "continually stabbing him in the chest area," he said. "He must have stabbed him 50 times or 60 times," said Caton. Attacker earlier appeared normal "The whole time, the attacker was over top of the victim. He is continually cutting him. I think the victim was gone at that point," Caton said. Caton said the attacker appeared "totally normal" earlier in the journey after boarding around Brandon, and chatted with a young woman as he smoked a cigarette during a break. But when he got back on the bus, he moved his belongings from the front to a seat beside the victim in the back and about 20 minutes later began attacking the man, said Caton. "He didn't say anything to the victim at all," said Caton. Once the bus pulled over and more than 30 passengers fled, Caton, the driver and a trucker who had stopped at the scene boarded the vehicle to see if the victim was still alive. "When we came back on the bus, it was visible at the end of the bus he was cutting the guy's head off and pretty much gutting him up," said Caton. The attacker ran at them, Caton said, and they ran out of the bus, holding the door shut as he tried to slash at the trio. Acted 'like a robot'When the attacker began fiddling with buttons and trying to drive the bus, Caton says the driver disabled the vehicle. "While we were watching the door, he calmly walks up to the front with the head in his hand and the knife and just calmly stares at us and drops the head right in front of us," said Caton. Caton described the attacker as surprisingly calm. "It was like he was at the beach or something. There was no rage in him. He wasn't swearing or cursing or anything. It was just like he was a robot or something."Police cruisers arrived about 10 minutes later, he estimates, and officers began directing passengers to school buses to take them to a hotel in Brandon. The attacker picked up the head. "While we were waiting on the side of the road, he was taunting the police with the head in his hand," said Caton. 'Pretty traumatic' A six-year-old and other children were among the passengers who saw the gruesome incident unfold, said Caton. "It was pretty traumatic," he said, adding that some passengers said they have been unable to sleep or eat since it happened. A chaplain and crisis team were on hand to counsel passengers at the hotel, he said. Officers were still at the scene early Thursday and brought portable search lights to examine the bus, the CBC's Sean Kavanagh reported. Traffic was being rerouted to a side road. Abby Wambaugh, media relations spokeswoman for Greyhound Canada, said there were 37 passengers and a driver aboard the bus. She would not comment on what happened on the bus. "I don't want to compromise the investigation, so any details need to be confirmed by the police," she said. www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2008/07/31/greyhound-transcanada.html?ref=rss

Hello, how is everyone's summer going... So tragic... my heart goes out to the families. I can't believe something like this happened, and within days of my return from my NH/Maine Greyhound trip... I had been to the US to see my sister. Haven't been anywhere in so long, and I enjoyed it so much I was already planning another trip to go see my other sister in California; only this time, everything I need would have to fit into a knapsack- I had FAR too much luggage... lol...
But seeing as how it takes over 3 1/2 days to get there... I dunno now. Maybe better to save up more for that 5 hour flight. I have another sister in Atlanta, maybe I could make one trip.
I know this was a random event, but... odds are there's more than one sociopath out there...

I bet they'll soon start X-raying bus and train traveller bags for weapons, just like at the airport, thanks to one bad apple (or manchurian candidate if you believe in conspiracies). Nobody on this board believes in conspiracies though.

The description of the assailant's actions as "robotic" does make you wonder about the mind control aspect. Don't have a link, but I read in one story that he said "there can be only one" just before starting.. Which is a line from Highlander : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highlander_(film)The Kurgan mortally wounds Connor and prepares to decapitate him, but the MacLeod's kinsmen intervene just before this occurs..

Hi Rita, nice to see you're back! They need to do something in terms of security, I can say that I could have waltzed in or out of the United States with just about anything in my bags... damn... could have brought back 5/5ths and nobody would have known. Too bad I don't drink... Which story was that, JoJo? I also would not discount mind control; this is reality. For those who may not have heard, just google "microwaves" and "mind control". Happy reading.

Now that I think about it.. (and I wish I hadn't dismissed it so quickly when I saw this and bookmarked it or better, saved the video) It was a video from a Canadian TV station. There were three witnesses: One young guy who seemed to get most of the air time, another young guy who was featured somewhat less, and an older guy with white hair who I saw in passing.. That's the one I'm pretty sure spoke of the "there can be only one" comment. Last time I checked, they edited down the older guy's comments.. which makes me start to be a wee bit suspicious.
Maybe Catcher In The Rye is too old school...

Maybe Catcher In The Rye is too old school... There can only be one, eh? Highlander as a beheading assassin trigger is brilliant, actually, and the more I think about it, the more this seems exactly like an MK Ultra scenario. The human mind has way too many roadblocks preventing a person from sawing the head off of a sleeping stranger, on a crowded, moving, Greyhound bus. Something had to have temporarily turned this guy's mind into a completely blank slate, accepting of any direction or order. There's just no other explanation for it. Oddly enough though, the thing about this story that bothers me the most is the ubiquitous use of the term "rambo knife" to describe the murder weapon. I mean isn't it bad enough without bringing Sylvester freaking Stallone into it???

The Rambo knife reference was from that young guy with all the air time I believe. Just something he reached for when searching to paint a picture, but it (unfortunately) caught on. One more interesting factoid.. A Zorro movie was playing just before this happened.

This keeps getting more and more strange. A police tape has been leaked that has a RCMP officer referring to the killer as "badger". Now, I'm no expert on Royal Canadian Mounted Police lingo, but wouldn't "the suspect", or something similar be standard in a situation like this? I mean, referring to him as "badger" seems like a CODE name or something, doesn't it? Here are the relevant quotes: "Badger appears to be a six foot tall Asian male, short dark hair, black t-shirt, armed with a knife right now." "Badger is armed with a knife and a pair of scissors, and he's defiling the body at the front of the bus as we speak." Listen here: www.thestar.com/News/Canada/article/471031I guess we should all just be thankful that this wasn't an officer of the Ontario Provincial Police, or else none of us would be getting any sleep.

Hugs, Mommybird... I won't! Although one ponders the "copycat" factor, ultimately I believe when your time comes, it comes... Actually, I thought fares would have gone down as a result of this- but they went UP instead! Then again, their rates seem to change with the wind, anyhow; every time you log on you get a different price. Already planning my second trip, and my 1 BAG is 3/4 packed! Looks like Georgia-bound instead of Cali right now tho. They are asking nearly $800 for that trip. Georgia's only $290. For any other wandering gypsies who may be watching, I have gleaned much wonderful info from onebag.com. 4 bags was way too much, even tho I was gone for 2 weeks, I just didn't need all that- especially in the backwoods of NH. And I was thinking a bigger suitcase would have solved my problems! Even on a long trip, if you're staying with friends or family near a beach, what do you really need besides your swimsuit, toothbrush, and deodorant? No waiting, extra fees, loss/delay/theft/tampering of checked luggage, first through customs... sounds good to me. FREE AT LAST!!!! One thing I don't get about this whole incident is.... the "standoff" for "hours" with police. HUH? I suppose they were trying not to SCRATCH THE PAINT??? If that happened in another country, there wouldn't BE a bus! BTW... speaking of liberties... first I heard of this little gem... www.flyclear.com/Boy... they're really after our DNA... Right now it's voluntary... one day, mandatory.

More Greyhound loonacy. Wed, 8/20/2008 Bus Beheading Threat By IAN MCDOUGALL, SPECIAL TO SUN MEDIA Josh and Andrew MacDougall were heading to Edmonton from Fort McMurray on a Greyhound Monday evening when a large man with tattoos boarded the bus. The MacDougalls were on the way home after working on the rigs. "This guy got on staggering," Josh MacDougall, 27, said. "He was weird and had very erratic behaviour." The man approached the brothers, who were sitting in the back of the bus, and began talking to Andrew. "He put his thumb on my brother's eye," Josh said, adding he told the man to take his hands off and he relented, but he continued berating them. About 20 minutes later, after the man had visited the bathroom, he returned to the back where the brothers were seated, but this time took out a knife, Josh said. The man sat between the two brothers and suddenly began stabbing the seat. Andrew got up and told the bus driver what was happening. Despite the warning, the bus driver kept going. "(The man) started calling us rats," Josh said. "He said 'how'd you like walking around without an eye.' " For the next hour, the man harassed other passengers before returning to the back of the bus. Twice during that time, the bus driver pulled over, telling the man he would have to get off the bus. When he refused, the driver kept going. The man then threatened the two brothers with beheading, referring to the attack on Tim McLean Jr. outside Portage la Prairie, Man., July 30. McLean was stabbed and then beheaded by another Greyhound passenger. "You'll be on the news," Josh recalled the man saying. "I'm going to cut your head off and throw it out the window." The bus finally came to a stop near Wandering River, about 45 minutes outside of Boyle on Highway 63, where it was met by an RCMP officer who was in the area, said Sgt. Ray Williams of the Boyle RCMP. An officer got on the bus, pepper-sprayed the man, and took him into custody, Josh said. But before police arrived, the man and the bus driver got into a scuffle on the bus. Josh and his brother tried to offer help but were warned by the driver to stay away. Eventually everyone was taken off the bus, in the middle of a ferocious lightning storm, and loaded back on. Inexplicably, Josh and his brother were prevented from getting back on, something they still don't understand. "Maybe he (the driver) was afraid," he said. The brothers were then driven by police to Boyle and had to stay overnight in the town. They bought two new bus tickets and arrived in Edmonton yesterday about 1 p.m. Williams said he is relieved the situation didn't turn into a tragedy. "I am concerned, especially after the most recent incident," he said. "I'm glad it turned out the way it did." A spokesman for Greyhound said the incident occurred on trip 134, coach 1210 between Fort McMurray and Edmonton. "We do have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to unruly passengers," Greyhound spokesman Abby Wambaugh said. Drivers are to pull over and contact local authorities if a passenger is out of control, she said, adding that procedure was followed in this case. She could not say why the MacDougalls were removed from the bus and not allowed to continue their trip to Edmonton. "We're still conducting an internal investigation," she said, adding there may be more information this morning. Douglas Brian Charland, 30, of Cold Lake, faces numerous charges including assault and uttering threats. He has been remanded in custody and is due in Boyle court Aug. 26. www.edmontonsun.com/News/Alberta/2008/08/20/6509021-sun.html

Yet a third Greyhound incident... www.metronews.ca/ottawa/canada/article/115662 What is strange is how all the attacks are within the same general area/route... Allegedly, this time the culprit was put on the bus by police, who apparently were oblivious to the knife he brought on board.

I was reading somewhere on some conspiracy sight that beheadings are part of some ritual (mind control illuminati stuff). I can't remember what sight it was. There was also an actress who was beheaded the same week. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzanne_Tamimthis one also: Meredith Kercher, who was found dead with her throat cut this one: Modern-Day Perseus Beheads Medusa on Santorini Athanassios Arvanitis, a cook at a local restaurant, is undergoing surgery at an island hospital, said Chrysanthos Roussos, head of the Santorini district on the island. Neighbors said that, following a heated argument, Arvanitis beheaded his girlfriend's dog with a butcher knife, then killed and beheaded the woman. The victim, 25-year-old Adamantia Karkali, worked as a teacher at a local village, Angelos Roussos, the mayor of Thira, the island's main town, was quoted as saying by TV station Antenna. Angelos Roussos and Chrysanthos Roussos are not related. Initially, Arvanitis roamed the village of Vourvoulos exhibiting Karkali's head, neighbors said. Townspeople said they locked themselves in their homes and called the police. When a policeman tried to handcuff him, the suspect knifed the officer and flung the woman's head into a patrol car, Roussos said. The policeman was only slightly injured, police said. The Headless Horseman of Swansea A WEALTHY businessman decapitated himself to spite his wife for their marriage split, an inquest heard yesterday. Gerald Mellin, 54, tied a rope to a tree, wrapped the other end around his neck and got into his open-top Aston Martin DB7. Gruesome death ... Gerald Mellin! He then accelerated away into a main road at midnight -- as motorists watched in horror. Police found his headless body on the driving seat with his head in the back. And witness Alison Anniah, who saw the vehicle go past, said: 'It got my attention because it was going so slowly. As the car passed us I saw the body had no head.' Then I came across a gruesome beheading that happened a few years back that I had forgotten about in Beverly Hills. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_LeesOn June 13, 2004, sometime around 11 a.m., Keven Lee Graff, a 27 year old homeless man, broke into Lees' home. Graff attacked the 91-year-old Lees and decapitated him. Graff then left the home, carrying Lees' severed head, and broke into a neighboring house. The occupant of the home was 69-year-old retired doctor, Morley Engleson. Graff then attacked and killed Engleson, who was on the telephone making a plane reservation. The Southwest Airlines ticketing agent heard the attack and phoned police.[3]Before police could arrive, Graff stole Engleson's 2001 Mercedes-Benz and left the scene.
Officers arrived at Engleson's home and found his body by his front door. He had been stabbed and left with a fireplace poker lodged in his throat.[4]During a search through Engleson's house, police discovered Lees' severed head lying on a bed. Lees' longtime girlfriend, Helen Colton, discovered Lees' headless body, covered by blankets, in his bedroom some five hours later when she arrived to pick Lees up for an event at the Academy headquarters in Beverly Hills.[5]

What I meant to say was that a series of beheadings each year are ritual related , I posted this b4 I read everyone's great ideas, on a unrelated note (kinda) I remember seeing footage of a girl who took her daddy's new porshe for a joy ride after a heated arguement perhaps she was under the influence and she crashed it on a concrete toll road thingie going over 100mph I recently found a pick of her dead in the car on the net (can't remember exact site) and basicly her head was turned to hamburger it was so damaged that it wasn't gruesome except for the long gorgeous sandy brown/red hair and a small part mainly mouth teeth tounge that was cross sectioned by the crash and thus recognizable like those medical examples of cadavers cross sectioned. ANYWAY point is if this is how Paul died I can absolutely see how EVERYONE involved seeing a head damaged like this would be effected to the point of "describing" or reliving it over and over in everything they did. Truly traumatic thing to see especially if you knew the person.
