My mac was out of commission for the past six months, but I finally fixed it today.
The problem is that it's running great everywhere except for HERE.
If I try to look at a content-heavy page (such as the 100 most recent posts), the browser (regardless of whether I use Firefox or Safari) tries to load all of the images and youtubes etc, and gets stuck. This requires me to shut down the browser.
It's really NOT conducive to how I use the board, but I don't want to keep my crappy old PC alive for the sole purpose of discovering what happened to JPM (although I will if I have to ;D).
Anybody else have this problem?
Anybody have a solution?
Thanks in advance!

Haven't had that problem with 100 recent posts, but if it's something like that thread with Valis' picture heavy thread then things get congested.. Or they did with my last Mac, my latest is the latest Imac with the Intel chip.. more muscle I guess. Ram is cheap, and a picture laden thread is asking a lot, it might be worth sticking an extra gig in there.

Seems crazy that it can't handle what my 6 year-old pc can, but that's what's going on. Argh! I wanted to be able to just pack up the pc, but good access to this board is too important.

You can use Firefox 3 if you have 10.4 or higher, do you? The G5 is still a fast machine and you can still run system 9 apps, something I miss at times. 1.5 gigs rules out memory as an issue IMO. Another thing to consider is that Proboards uses Java to a degree, stuff like the smilies and buttons, etc. Just for the fun of it, turn off Java in your browser settings and see what the effect is. That really picture heavy thread is here: invanddis.proboards29.com/index.cgi?board=TAR&action=display&thread=3311I hadn't loaded it in a long time, and with Firefox 3 and OSX 10.5.3 I have no issues. (just 1 GB memory)
