This is a topic I haven't seen discussed specifically yet, so I thought I would give a link to the Cockney Rhyming Dictionary. I think this type of wording is used more in the UK than maybe us Americans appreciate. Remember the scene in Austin Powers Goldmember movie between Powers and his father, where they had to put subtitles under their conversation? There were a lot of good examples in that scene. I got to thinking about the name "Billy" as it is used in so many different kinds of 'play on words' situations - billy goats, billy clubs, etc. I looked up Billy just to see what the dictionary had: Billie Piper = Windscreen Wiper Billie Piper = Sniper Billy Goat = Throat Billy Goat = Coat Billy Hunt = Silly C**t Billy Ray Cirus = Virus Haha - another interesting one: Macca = Crap !! www.cockneyrhymingslang.co.uk/I thought it might be useful when analyzing lyrics.

Plastic Paul has explained some of this to us when there was a need. I don't recall any Beatle lyrics that needed translation, other than "four of fish and finger pie", and that wasn't really Cockney Rhyming.

Sorry to clutter up your board again Mr. B. In another thread they were discussing that JPM used the name of "Billy Martin" to sign up for studio time.
But apparently you all have everything figured out already. Way to go!
Buh bye.

What?! Touchy today, aren't we? All I was saying was that Plastic Paul has explained the meanings for us state-siders in the past. Sheesh!

I'm done wasting your time.
You can all go back to listening to the silence, since all questions have been answered. Have fun.
btw, you might post a link to that thread that has all those answers, since after spending months here I apparently missed it.
