My reason in posting actions and words that reinforce my theory that Faul is of Romany origin is that these actions and words are consistent throughout the time that Faul has been on the scene. He is INconsistent in portraying Paul to the point of telling some interviewers that they know more about him (as Paul) than he does. If he were trying to play Gypsy as a lark, he'd play at it for a while and quit. From what I've read of the Gypsy life (and I've been plowing through the books), he lives a life that reflects his upbringing. And I'm going at this ass-backward because you usually find someone's identity, and then trace their actions, but, of course, with Faul, his actions are public and it's finding his identity that's the challenge. This theory makes sense, and it will pan out. We shall watch attentively for the clear manifestations of your convictions that he is indeed a person of that background. A fine background as any; no one feels there is are demerits for any background. We are diverse thinking people here. Long may diversity rule! But if Bill wants to play the fiddle and stomp a foot while wearing earrings and a do-rag on his head, we are right there with him.

I've been sitting on this, too, because it could be viewed as animal abuse. In Paul McCartney: Many Years From Now, Faul talks about a certain way his mates killed frogs. He said, "You feel that you've got to learn to kill, like a farmer's boy who grows up and learns to kill that goose and wring that chicken's neck." The way his mates were killing frogs is the same method used by Greek Gypsies to kill hedgehogs, as described in Gypsies of the World by Nebojsa Bato Tomasevic and Rajko Djuric. I think Faul is describing both frog and hedgehog killing of his youth because hedgehogs are a favorite wild game of English Romanies (the Gypsies call them hotchi-witchi), and because frogs are hated and considered of the devil by them.

I was reading A Romany Life by Gipsy Petulengro (E.P. Dutton, 1936) and he was talking about his work: "The boats did not carry enough passengers to make a living the year round, so we went back to photography and music, two things the Romanys always fell back on. (The Romanys were the first people to work the old tin-type photo on the continent, after Daguerre, the French scientist, discovered it and made it a commercial proposition.)" Is it any wonder, Faul was especially interested in Linda Eastman from the beginning?

I think you folks are over-analyzing too much in regard to Paul being of Gypsy origin. Stop thinking about ethnic origin and start thinking extra-terrestrial origins. It sounds strange but then this whole PID thing is strange anyway.
An old friend of mine once met a man in our city on a bus one day. He was wearing all brown clothing. He got off the bus with her, chatted with her a little, said goodbye and walked in a certain direction down a sidewalk. She turned away for a few seconds and when she turned back to look at him, he was GONE.
Brown may not have anything to do with skin color. You've heard of "Men in Black"? Well, how about "Men in Brown". ETs are seemingly divided into 10 or more groups. Brown may just be a color/vibration with which he's associated. Think outside the box!

A very interesting topic no matter what might be said by a few.
I`ve been looking at David Essex videos lately from youtube and I was surprised to see how much he reminds me in his 20s of Paul in his 20s. David Essex for a fairly long time has been upfront about his Traveller`s background. It is interesting to see how he has the dark haired, heavy lidded good looks of the young Paul Mc. Of course people all over the world can resemble each other without being of the same ethnic/racial group or from the same country but from what I know both of Paul`s parents grandparents or great grandparents came from Ireland.
Correct me if I am wrong - I`d like to know the surnames on Paul Mc`s family tree from both sides. It`s important to go back if you want to know who you really are. I have a ton of Irish but also some rare English names on my family tree that come from a Norman family and an old Saxon family, as well as a lot more English and Welsh than I thought. All uncommon names.
