I usually consider Nothing is Real a sanctuary from politics (unless it concerns the mysterious dealings of the British crown, I suppose), but I can't help but post. I'm disgusted, more so now than I have ever been. Remember back in 2000 when, in his election campaign, Bush promised that "the grown-ups" were going to be in charge again? I'm sorry, but with each passing day, they're just proving themselves to be the most petulant children ever to run this country. www.crooksandliars.com/2005/09/02.html#a4763This video says so much. I'm not a Fox News watcher, but I know enough that Shepard Smith is one of their usual right-leaning anchors. To see him verbally shout down Hannity and fight back tears, while Rivera completely breaks down... my God. Where's the humanity in the people who are still shilling for the official government word on this? I can't believe this was from Fox News. The times, they are a'changing.

I should have realized that----Algiers Point is directly across, I've seen it, from ther river's edge, it's a higher place across the river from downtown that didn't get the level of innundation, if any.
Well, I sent him something he'll ignore or fire back a "You are stupid" reply to me, so whatever. I changed it some. I softened it to "an armed chechpoint across at Gretna (sic) which would prevent any one from crossing over from the city..........etc......they are de facto prisoners.....etc. blah blah.
It was an emotional tirade, I tried to mute my strident histrionics to a degree but the images and ideas of sick and dying elderly and kids has just got me very sad.
I don't get it. How do you ever take a "Well, too bad there's nothing could be done about it" position? Easy to do if you aren't in the middle of it, I guess.
Well, some help is there. I was miffed at hearing that everyone got a army issue instant meal and a liter of water. Better than nothing-----but, unless they want a lot of corpses to clean up from thirsting to death----or dysentary--or dare I say cholera-------they gotta get those people OUT of there. The standing water concealing uncountable corpses, the filth, the waste and urine.
Deep down, everybody knows this. What's wrong with the equation?

I think it's a litmus test of more to come. Maybe they're hoping to get a nice little racial war out of this and declare martial law slowly but surely across the US. Shoot to kill? Over a can of Bush's Baked Beans? Yes I think so..... The questions as to WHY? Where's the help?? Are obvious. I think the 1st Amerikan dictator just wanted to see A) what would happen if Amerikans were put in this third-world environment B) Wanted to give the rest of the country a little taste of things to come. (thanks for posting that FOX news clip) To be honest, I have serious doubts as to whether there will even be an 08 election. They have already come out & said.... one more attack & marshall law will be imposed. So it's easy.... stage an attack just before yer side looses the election..... announce marshall law.... no election.... childsplay! They already twisted the arms of our disgusting congressmen to pass the Patriot Act without reading it. And it sez right there that WE are the terrorists. The proof is in the news this week. Those poor people in the Superdome were & are bein' treated like "the enemy" Murderers in prisons have it much better than those poor people in the Superdome this week. There's a gazillion ways to have gotten food & water & security to the superdome.... that HAD to have been done on purpose.

Excellent link to that video, thanks Total. I suggest saving anything that fully downloads to your hard drive, the site is getting real slow of late. (memory hole here we come)
I found the contrast between Hannity and the guys in the city striking, Hannity in his perfectly pressed suit, striking his arrogant "thoughtful" pose, saying with his body language "now now boys, let's not get carried away".. Tool...

They want to build a new, a new world New Orleans, their way, and remove the elements they don't like. God watches out zealously for widows and orphans, blind, lame, and the naive, infirm, poor, humble. God watches to see who is thirsty, hungry, naked. He keeps tabs on what's happening. He knows. He will repay. As far as the relief effort------A situation came about where seeking help from the Fed seemed the only way out. So, if New Orleans turns into a prolonged, grim miltary occupation, like Baghdad, then if anyone complains, it can be said, "Well, after all, you begged us for it." The aide comes with strings. And yes, it looks like a prototype for more of the same down the road.

The flooding of New Orleans did not occur until a day after Hurricane Katrina, when "about (!) three breaches in the levees occured" according to the British Bloomberg radio broadcasting anchor.
Numerous eyewitness reports insist that there were exposions and deliberate bombings of the levees by government officials. CNN and all other national media branches did not even begin to report on the levee breaches that were creating a rising tide of floodwater in the city until the woman V.P. of Tulane Hospital said she had been told that there was a breach, during a live interview with CNN anchor Rick Sanchez about 2 AM EST. She said that floodwaters were rising at the hospital area at one inch every five minutes. Only after she said this, during the interview, did CNN suddenly display a caption saying "levee breach" but neither CNN nor the other media did any follow up reporting or send a camera team until many hours after this!
"Conspiracy"? You're soaking in it.
A Bloomberg radio program also described how the hurricane effects would be great for business, particularly the "need to rebuild" and oil corporate profits.
New Orleans was too French for their tastes anyway.

Well, you know, Nero fiddled while Rome burned... Anyhow, when something like this happens it's commonplace to ask why? I'm not sure I have an answer for that... All I know is either we can become bitter and angry, or turn this tragedy into a blessing and give hope for those in need. I'm a bit surprise a "news" section was added to the forum, but whatever...

it was my decision to add a news section to this forum. Since the events of Katrina it was obvious our members wanted to address that and other issues. This forum is evolving and i hope the members evolve with it, if not you do not have to contribute to this section
the forum rules have been changed to reflect the movement of the forum

Yup. Don't worry, the main topic of discussion is still the same. Some will not feel the inclination to read or post here, and that's perfectly fine.
