Lost is one of those shows you must be patient with - particularly in the first two seasons. When I really got hooked was after I saw the opening sequence of season 3 - it blew me away. After that I watched the reruns of season 2 and it was like I had never seen them before - they were suddenly alive and rivetting.
You cannot really watch this show live with ads on in between, or while you're doing chores etc. It doesn't work that way. It requires your full attention. You have to at least record the show so you can skip the ads, but better yet, hire or buy the DVDs of the show.
Jumping in and watching an episode at random won't work too well because:
1) You may not know what the heck is going on
2) The show is now starting to answer more questions than it is giving them and, if you haven't watched the past episodes, you won't fully appreciate this.
3) If you finally decide to sit back and watch the show from the very beginning, it may be a spoiler to watch an epsiode several seasons ahead. This show is about slow revelation.
The final season, starting early February, will mainly be the answers that loyal viewers have been waiting for.
What I recommend is you get hold of the season 1 DVDS and start there, or download from "somewhere" *ahem*.
I've recently spent far too much money on DVD of old shows because they came down quite a bit in price but still add up to a lot.
The first season of The Mod Squad
One and a half seasons of The Streets of San Francisco
Seasons 2 to 5 of Hawaii Five-O
Seaons 1 to 6 of Walker - Texas Ranger
Seaons 4 & 5 of Mission Impossible
Season 1 of Matlock.
Speaking of Matlock, I'm surprised you haven't mentioned that in your list.
