Oh, I could hide 'neath the wings of the bluebird as she sings The six o'clock alarm would never ringBut it rings and I rise wipe the sleep out of my eyes The shavin' razor's cold, and it stings Cheer up, sleepy Jean, oh what can it mean To a daydream believer and a homecoming queen?

Davy Jones’ Good-Humored Last Days: ‘I Used to Be a Heartthrob, Now I’m a Coronary’music.yahoo.com/blogs/stop-the-presses/davy-jones-good-humored-last-days-used-heartthrob-230101900.htmlexcerpts:"'I make a joke in the show about Micky, Pete and Mike being in the Actor's Home in Hollywood. I tell the audience, 'I went to see them the other day and I said to Micky, 'DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?' and Peter says to me, 'Ask the nurse, Davy, she'll tell you.'" "Mike Nesmith who was least inclined to join in any Monkees reunions, as the songwriter within the original group, not surprisingly, he had the most to say. "While it is jarring, and sometimes seems unjust, or strange," wrote Nesmith, "this transition we call dying and death is a constant in the mortal experience that we know almost nothing about. I am of the mind that it is a transition and I carry with me a certainty of the continuity of existence. While I don't exactly know what happens in these times, there is an ongoing sense of life that reaches in my mind out far beyond the near horizons of mortality and into the reaches of infinity. That David has stepped beyond my view causes me the sadness that it does many of you. I will miss him, but I won't abandon him to mortality. I will think of him as existing within the animating life that insures existence. I will think of him and his family with that gentle regard in spite of all the contrary appearances on the mortal plane. David's spirit and soul live well in my heart, among all the lovely people, who remember with me the good times, and the healing times, that were created for so many, including us. I have fond memories. I wish him safe travels." Mickey Dolenz had this to say: ""I am in a state of shock. Davy and I grew up together and shared in the unique success of what became The Monkees phenomena. The time we worked together and had together is something I'll never forget. He was the brother I never had and this leaves a gigantic hole in my heart. The memories have and will last a lifetime. My condolences go out to his family." Peter Tork couldn't resist ending his homage with a salute to Jones' horsemanship. "It is with great sadness that I reflect on the sudden passing of my long-time friend and fellow-adventurer, David Jones. His talent will be much missed; his gifts will be with us always. My deepest sympathy to Jessica and the rest of his family. Adios, to the Manchester Cowboy.""

Davey Jones' Locker May we speed this up, please? Davy Jones's Locker is an idiom for the bottom of the sea: the state of death among drowned sailors. It is used as an euphemism for death at seaJONES Surname Meaning & Origin: A patronymic name meaning "son of John," the given name John deriving from the Hebrew Yochanan meaning "Jehovah has favored."And Davey, you know who that is en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Davidbible.cc/revelation/22-16.htmIT's EASY!

To the best of my knowledge, this is Davy Jones' last interview, conducted by "Beatle Edd" on Wilkes-Barre's WRKC (King's College) last Friday. (2/24/2012) wrkc.kings.edu/Click on the audio link by the article: Monkees singer, Davy Jones, dies at 66 Kind of interesting, imo. Here is Davy Jones' website: www.davyjones.net/

Ode to the blue bird once again in "I Wanna Be Free"
I wanna be free like the bluebird flying high......
Again with the bluebirds.....
Davy Jones footlocker.....at the bottom of the sea...in an Octopus' Garden in the shade....
oh, and there is yet but another David Jones, who could not use his last name because of Davy....and that is our "man who fell to earth" none other than David Bowie....
Whether it be the man who fell to the earth, or the man at the bottom of the sea.....
where the treasure is...the heart will follow....
I'll Follow the Sun
taking the Yellow Submarine to the Octopus' Garden....
what a journey....

Anyone on here familiar with the '60s group Fountain Of Youth.
They too were on Colgems and sounded just like the Monkees.

Replacements in waiting? Could have been, if the Monkees had kept going. FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH - Livin' too fast www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZHW4Dyai6Ivideo description:FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH - Livin' too fast (1st single - 1967) This band played in Fredericksburg, Texas between 1966-69 and were originally known as The Crossfires. Thanks for pointing them out, linus! I had never heard of them.

Never heard of them either....and I remembered a great deal of crap from those days...as far as strange groups or singers.
That one slipped under my radar...or perhaps they didn't fly over my area....
A strange thing about him being 66 and dying on a leap day....sounds like some sort of ritual.
Now this was a guy who was vegan and they said he took care of himself, yet died of a heart attack. Remember folks about DEW technology....and if you aren't aware of it, research it. The powers that be can cause someone to have a heart attack from a sattelite. I found it out about the time of Michael Jackson's death.
Just a peculiar thing.

The tour kicks off at Escondido's California Center for the Arts on November 8th and finishes at the Beacon Theatre in New York City on December 2nd. The trek is also Nesmith's first with the Monkees since a brief U.K. run in 1997; and of course, it's the group's first outing since singer Davy Jones passed away in February. "This seems like a good time to do this – the right time," says Nesmith. "Who knows when we will get another chance?" The Monkees will perform a selection of their biggest hits and deeper cuts from their first five albums, as well as music from their film Head and their TV series. Accompanying the tunes will be a multimedia show filled with rare films and photographs. Jones will be saluted "in the show's multimedia content," according to a statement. Re The Monkees being actors; they fitted in on the Laurel Canyon scene and were accepted by the other musicians as they were all the same: other people played on their records and they were acting out roles.
