Hmm. Interesting footage I haven't seen before. Thanks for posting it. I froze it several times trying to analyze the "Paul" here. The footage is too jerky and blurred to say for sure. However, based on the overall tone of voice and quality of performance, I would guess that Billy did this show. Could be wrong though because our main Beatlemania Paul was smoking a lot and it was affecting the tonal quality of his voice by this point. Also, the main Beatlemania Paul always used his raspy voice on this song. Anyone else want to weigh in? Sounds like Billy to me. That's what I hear. Billy. But I'm as certain as I can be that it is our primary Beatlemania Paul singing this same song at the 1965 NME awards. The tonal quality at the NME performance sounds correct for him. He had good control over this song, whereas Billy was kind of all over the place. Also, the overall stage presence at the 1965 NME awards is correct for our main Beatlemania Paul. I think Billy was the only Paul who substituted as a performing Paul during Beatlemania. I haven't identified any other performing Pauls during that period. Yet.

Don't think so, it sounds like the voice that probably did virtually all, if not all the pre 67 studio work - let's call him JPM. This doesn't look like Bill either in the vid.

Here's the words for it. Wonder if there's any... clues? I love a good clue Say, say, oh playmate, Come out and play with me. Bring out your dollies three. [Dollhouse original White Album title] Climb up my apple tree. [obvious] Slide down my rainbow [glass onion, lucy, rotogravure: look] Into my cellar door. [? Just the off-stage situation?] And we’ll be jolly friends Forevermore, one two three four! Another longer version: See, see my playmate, Come out and play with me And bring your dollies three Climb up my apple tree Holler down my rain barrel Slide down my cellar door And we’ll be jolly friends Forever evermore. [“Paul McCartney will always exist.”] Oh no my playmate I can’t come play with you My dollies have the flu [dope sick] Boo hoo boo hoo Can’t holler down rain barrels Or slide down a cellar door But well be jolly friends Forever evermore. Say, say, my playmate Don’t come and play with me Don’t bring your dollies three Cut down my apple tree Fall off my rainbow, Into my cellar door And we’ll be enemiesForever evermore. Say, say my enemy. Come out and fight with me. And bring your Bulldogs three. Climb up my sticker tree. [-?] Slide down my lightning. Into my dungeon door [dark as a dungeon, Paul #? blinded] And we’ll be jolly enemies Forever evermore. Say say old enemy Come out and fight with me And bring your BB gunAnd we’ll have lots of fun I’ll scratch your eyes out [blinded] And make you bleed to deathAnd we’ll be jolly enemies Forever evermore. Oh little enemy, I cannot fight with you, My mommy said not too Boo hoo hoo hoo I can’t scratch your eyes out And make you bleed to death But we’ll be jolly enemies Forever evermore. Great find, joseph Don’t know if it’s African-American in derivation. My mom taught me that one as a child. We are Caucasian. She grew up in a Caucasian neighborhood in Georgia. But she didn't teach me the part about the enemies (if she ever knew it). I only know the first three stanzas. And she taught it to me as "hey hey" not "say say". And instead of "Oh no my playmate, I can't come out and pay with you", she taught me "I'm sorry playmate, I can't come out and play, my dolly's sick today, she's got the flu, boo hoo". She would sing it to me. She said it was a song the girls would sing while swinging the jump rope for one another in the playgrounds. So there must be a number of variations, as such songs that are passed down and around through generations and across geographies tend to develop. She grew up in an Atlanta neighborhood and used to babysit the singer Joe South (the Games People Play, he also wrote the Deep Purple song "Hush"). Though she told me that "South" was not the family name. Mom thought he was a terrific songwriter, but an awful singer. She herself was one of the best singers I ever heard.

" So, that set list inspired me to give the original 1985 video a rewatch and…it's two different Pauls! One at the piano, right side of his face fairly well obscured with a very droopy eye, and a different one standing and "singing" or singing. I'm not convinced the inserts of the hands playing piano belong to the Paul shown sitting at it, either.

I agree. Two versions of "Paul". The one in the 1985 video always seemed the "most obvious" of the replacements to me.
Yet the mentality is the same. Very strange. Something very odd about all of this. I say "replacements", but they could be clones of some sort.

Yeah, One Hand Clapping Paul is the weirdest. Second weirdest is Japan Hi Hi Hi Paul. And coming in third place, to me, is this Jet rehearsal David Cassidy Paul. If you listen with the sound turned down, you can almost imagine him singing "We have a dream to go traveling together, spread a little love and it will keep moving on....Come on get happy". The clothes, the hair, the necklace, look just right. For David Cassidy. Yes, I know, it was the times. But still, good grief. Contrast this guy with Let it Be piano playing Paul. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFOnTfdms90

Something very odd about all of this. I say "replacements", but they could be clones of some sort. The standing one is seen as early as Hamburg, not in many photos, but he's there. Very tall. He seemed to reappear as Beatlemania was winding down, I recall a pic of him looking very derpy in their sort of green room area at a stadium show. But a different one played the show. The other is the one I consider the Mystery Paul…

Is there some sort of pattern here? A star map or something? Why are some double shows? It appears to be carefully designed, that's for sure. The star/light pattern continuing across the shirt and jeans. So, with the clouds being on the shirt, he is still on earth. But the stars in the background representing eminent ascension? The resurrected Christ appearing before many just prior to his ascension? The tour starts west, then moves east. Typical weather patterns, maybe? So, this guy is a force of nature? A star map is a distinct possibility, thinking of "Ringo Starr" and his curious set of rings. As well as innumerable other indications of astrology/astronomy surrounding the Beatles. Again, every picture tells a story, don't it? I took a stab at deciphering this picture, anyway.

I actually meant the spots on the map where the concerts would be taking place. But your comments are a good insight!

I actually meant the spots on the map where the concerts would be taking place. But your comments are a good insight! I kinda tried to trace the locational pattern, but all I can see is the west to east potential natural pattern of weather. Whenever friends get major storm fronts in Texas, they often make their way to Georgia. So many weather patterns come from some point west, dive into the south, then up the east coast. Whether the locales themselves form a star map? Interesting.
