What I think should be the focus of the 'doubles' issue are the things not really changeable via surgery, particularly the head shape. The height issues are also of concern, however even that could be changed albeit via dome extremely painful surgery that would probably just take too long to recover from.
What intrigues me which we all must remember is that with the exception of fan pictures virtually all of the photographic evidence is subject to tampering.
With these matters where incredulity can be a burden we must break this down into the basic parts, after all the idea of replacing another human being is so fantastic as to be insurmountable to the average left brain dominated mind.
As an example, as simple question: Do we have evidence of tampering with the evidence? Yes we do. Those Beatles Quarterly's where they superimposed fake mustaches (and quite sloppily), what's the point? Just to reinforce the Sgt. Pepper image?
Playing a certain song backwards just so happens to reveal the backwards message "It was a fake mustache"? When we are opposed to a certain conclusion we will chalk up an awful lot of strangeness to coincidence. They included a fake mustache in the Pepper sleeve so we could all play along.
