Hey, something a bit stupid has come to my mind. Silly, but it could be interesting. If you had to do your own Pepper's cover, who would you put in the crowd? For instance, the first names that come to my mind would be The Beatles ;D, Frank Zappa, Robert Fripp, Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Dvorak, Vangelis, Shakespeare, Borges, Garcia Marquez, Don Quixote, Hitchcock, The Marx Bros, Monty Python, Woody Allen, Humphrey Bogart, James Stewart, Cary Grant, Kate Hepburn, Ray Bradbury, Keith Emerson... Anyone?

I like your idea. Gotta think about it, make lists.
Crowd of spectators. Crowd on onlookers, crowd of compatriots, crowd of those you admire, or credit with some personal revelation.
Teachers, mentors, friends, heroes; or objects of scorn, antagonists, enemies, opponents. Inspirers. Cool people; losers. Hip folks, icons, those who gave you a spark, those who made you mad enough to decide to grow up and move on...........
a personal mix.............

Well my list isn't as varied as Dr.Robert's is gonna be. Mine's mostly weird musicians. But first... the only painters on there would be Dali, & Rothko. The only other people would be my crazy young'un Christy & my grand daughter Leona. .And Timothy Leary. The rest would be filled with music people.... Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention, David Thomas, Capt.Beefheart, The Residents (the "eyeball guys" below), Fred Frith, the other nuts from my old band- (Bert, Bill, & Sean), Marilyn Manson, The Beatles (images from the butcher cover), John Cale, Robert Smith, Brian Wilson, Juan Esquivel, Ron & Russell Mael, TortElvis (singer for Dread Zeppelin), circa'79 era Devo in the yellow jumpsuits, and the members of Joy Division with Ian Curtis hangin' from a noose over to the side. While we're on the subject, here's 2 more variations. This one was a guys college art project. He's a Residents fan & based it on people related to the band in some way. And here's the trusty old cover to We're Only IN It For The Money"

LOL, you must love the top one, it reminds me of your avatar on the "Only The Truth" forum: Ya... I just love The Residents period. They've released so much great stuff, yet most people have never heard of them. The eyeball heads is their most popular disguise & the most recognizable. They NEVER appear without some sort of disguise, but hardcore fans like myself know who they are. That's a fine avatar ain't it.! I needed a cover for my Residents C&W compilation cd so I took the cover of the Joey Bishop country album (the most painful thing I've ever heard) & replaced Joey's face with one of the eyeball heads. Well, anyway, I thought I'd throw in a little explaination since most everybody here isn't familiar with them. Now... back to Sgt.P covers!!

One you get used to Zappa you think nothing can be weirder that that ! ;D This is kinda getting off topic here. (maybe we should do this in a Rez thread) But Tunes of 2 Cities isn't a good starting place. That's one of their weakest albums, but I do enjoy the "mole" songs (even # tracks). And yes, they can get much weirder than Zappa!!! If you want, I'll help pick out their best releases.(I've got all of'em...over 60 cd's & 5 dvd's)

Yes, please. If you could tell me where to start. If it helps, I'm a great fan of all prog-rock, and I love Zappa music.

I'm putting these 2 download links up for the benefit of Funking. If anybody else is interested in this, ya better get'em coz I'll be deleting this in 24-30 hrs. This is the 2 tracks that make up The Residents 1974 single "The Residents Play The Beatles, The Beatles Play The Residents" 1st track is an interesting sound collage made from various Beatle songs.

The B-side is their creepy cover of Flying

Eyesbleed thanks, I really enjoyed both! What would be interesting is a medley of song clues, both classic and stuff that's been discussed recently. They could fade into each other like that cd you created a little while back. I've been thinking of doing it, but it's gotta be a lot of work..

That's probably the weirdest cover of Flying you'll ever hear! Hey I could help in putting such a cd together. Once we get all the stuff collected for the disc, I could get'em loaded up in my CD Architect & get to work on'em.

Eyesbleed--I have "toast" on my other Mac---my roomate, is i FAR more technical than I am, runs it pretty well---but it is a little dirfferent purpose. What, anyway, exactly does "CD Architect" do, and does it have a version for Mac? What are its advantages and features for editing? Is it expensive?(we all got's to budget sometime.........)

Doc, CD Architect seems to be the same as Jam, a program that comes with Toast if you buy them bundled. Toast is for burning data, video and music cd's but Jam, like CDA, makes professional cds with cross fades and more I would guess. More info on Jam: www.roxio.com/en/products/toastwithjam/index.jhtml

CD Architect is great, I did without it for a long time, just using my musicmatch software, but now I'm hooked & have to have it.! I use it to make compilation cd's mainly. It will let me adjust the volume of each track, & crossfade the tracks, or whatever. You can lay one track on top of another if ya want. Then there's lots of effects, like reversing tracks, & time stretch, & lots of audio effects like reverb & echo etc etc etc... Well technically, all the effects & volume stuff is in Sound Forge, which comes with it. All of my compilation cd's have had to be redone since I got this stuff. It usually runs about $150.

JoJo and eyesbleed----thanks for the info-------I want to get this program. My toast is a little dated, I guess 18 months or so and came from the person I bought the computer from. Anyway, I'll price CD Architect soon and get. Thanks. I record all the little shows we do at our cabaret, and we like to edit them up a bit. Also, I want to start making fun compilations to amuse me in my daily car drives.....
