some legal issues afoot ... stay tuned Yikes. Really? I've got terrabytes of storage if Jojo needs somewhere to store **legally unquestionable ** data for a while.

Yes the problem is I got a DMCA complaint about one of my audio files. OK so one complaint is not a big deal perhaps but probably one more and the web hosting company would knock me off their servers anyway.. I decided I don't need the headache of opening up an email suggesting I may need to consult a lawyer. OK so yes that's BS, as a DMCA complaint is considered resolved 99.9% of the time if you take it down and move on.
When I first started jojoplace, it was a LONG time ago, the internet was still relatively new. There was no Youtube, so I hosted the video files myself. There wasn't a way to upload still pictures directly to the forum as there is now. Probably a lot of the audio files I posted could be hosted elsewhere. That said, I left it up because why not? Other than the cost which wasn't too bad, it didn't cause me any heartburn. For some reason, it took the copyright police 15 years (!) to track me down. Now they have so.. I decided to just park the domain.
I of course have everything backed up locally, so it's not lost.
What you're proposing Kaleidoquake is not necessary to save the data, but if you have other ideas, PM me.

Is it health related?

No michelle. You misunderstood the same way I did when he told me.
This place is staying up. It's only his site full of files of songs and videos that he is taking down.

One pretty simple solution that eliminates the need for a domain host, would be something like Tonido, which is basically a self-hosted cloud. The caveats are that you need to have a computer/machine/server on during any period of time you want people to be able to access stuff and, if you're on any kind of metered broadband, I wouldn't want to risk the overages. Tonido is freeware that works on just about every platform. I use it to share, usually, legal documents but sometimes other stuff with specific people and, also, just to access my server when I'm away. You can choose to create password protected 'accounts' for people with whom you want to share specific folders on a drive or you can make a folder or directory available to anyone who has the randomized link to access it. If you did the latter, I would still throw in a norobots.txt, because data hoarders do search specifically for indexes to see what goodies are available and, if it gets enough traffic, Alphabet will eventually add it to their compendium. But if you wanted to just lock it down as a secret garden for forum members or the like, I doubt you'd have reason to sweat the copyright vultures.

Yeah, what B said, hah! There would never be a reason to shut down the forum, even if it died in terms of
traffic and was abandoned by its admins. (*cough*, 60IF *cough*) Proboards is a free service so who cares?
Kaleidoquake, I've done that before in the sense of hosting my files locally, I set up a web server on my Imac
when I was between web hosts for reasons I can't even remember anymore. I never got caught, but in retrospect
that was probably a bad idea..

If you can, please get jojoplace back up and running ASAP! It was a great resource for PID materials back from the height of this conspiracy's popularity. If not, archive.org might be of use to you, you can upload files there.

Almost every single one of the many files on there is a potential infringement, even scans of old magazines. (yes really) Fair use perhaps, but if you fight on those grounds better be prepared to hire a lawyer.. No thanks.

At the very least, you should upload the old MilesDeo/Other PID threads you had saved. Those were very important IMO, and I don't think that's infringement.

Hey beatles1966, I have the full contents of JoJo's site and am working on figuring out the best way to broadly re-share that data, without being headbutted by DMCA trolls. In the meantime, if there is something specific that you'd like, please, PM me. And that goes for everybody.

I'm mostly interested in the forum threads JoJo saved back in the day, MilesDeo wiped all their posts so that's one of the few ways we can see what they said.

Direct Download Link: Zipped Archive of the Google Cache files JoJo saved of the DiMeo ThreadRequest Vault Link: Teknik JoJo's Place Data Request VaultHaven't had a chance to read that yet, but it looks like interesting stuff. &, if there's anything else, I'm happy to help. The full contents I was given are over 12GB so shoving it all on a cloud service isn't really going to be a realistic solution for most people. I was thinking maybe something decentralized like Mastodon or any of the variety of blockstack services but I don't want non-techies to have to download & get frustrated by unfamiliar software in order to access the bounty. Does anybody here use Soulseek? It's a fairly old school (primarily) music file sharing app, but you can share other things & the lay out is really straight forward and probably would be familiar to anyone who used things like limewire or emule back in the day. Also, I independently s*c*r*a*p*e*d the existent archive dot org data for 3 now defunct sites/boards that focused on Beatles multiples, if anyone is interested in that stuff.

ekauqodielak Also, I believe JoJo had something related to MilesDeo's "Manson Star" letter on their website, if you could upload that too I'd appreciate it. If you have any forum threads that you think are important, please upload them when you have the time.

Yep. You want me to zip and upload it? Please, thank you so much! OK. I'll try to get to that tomorrow evening. Be warned that archive.org doesn't catalogue everything so there can be notable gaps in data.

If you have any forum threads that you think are important, please upload them when you have the time. That was the entirety of what was in the googlecache folder of that DiMeo thread from JoJo's site. I don't know where else a dimeo related 'manson star' would be, if not in the dimeo folder. If I come across it, I'll let you know, but it's going to take me a while to thumb through all the goodies. If you have space for the full 12+ GBs of data, I'd be happy to make them available to you in full for transfer. PM if so and I'll give you a download link to my private server.

"Manson Star" related to the letter MilesDeo posted where it referenced "Charlie" and talked about placing pieces of a "star" in different areas. Had handwriting similar to the Zodiac's. I have enough space for 12 GBs of data, PM me the link and I'll download it, thanks.

JoJo Do you still have your glow in the dark Sgt. Pepper photos that were featured in an RA episode? Found that part about McCartney's eye being damaged on the cover interesting.
