Context doesn't change anything. The sentence is nonsensical, other than within PID.

The other guy says (-the interviewer says) "...it's only been four rather three other people in the world who've ever been in his shoes"... right after Brian R says he's the best Paul M in the world .....three other guys(-"Pauls") in his shoes?!?!?! Um,did i interpret this correctly?!

I had the same reaction flowerchild! But then I realized he meant the other three Beatles. The other three Beatles were also "in Paul's shoes".

I had the same reaction flowerchild! But then I realized he meant the other three Beatles. The other three Beatles were also "in Paul's shoes". Paul wasn't even 'in Paul's own shoes'. As I've said before, on a hot day there's nothing like walking on blazing hot blacktop to 'cool off'.

As I've said before, on a hot day there's nothing like walking on blazing hot blacktop to 'cool off'. Good comment. I don't think anyone was ever firmly in the "Paul" shoes. Thinking of the lyrics to For No One published on the Revolver album. A revolving door of "Beatles"? And in her eyes, you see nothingNo sign of love behind the tearsCried for No OneA love that should have lasted yearsYou stay home, she goes outShe says that long ago she know someone, but now he's goneShe doesn't need himWhat is going on here? One Beatlemania Paul fell in love with someone (Sylvie maybe?). She believes she has fallen in love with the one and only Paul McCartney. Then, he is suddenly and at least temporarily rotated out of the role of Paul. Forced to stay home and out of sight? She discovers the deception - a revolving door of Beatles. So her tears are being cried for No One, because he isn't who she thought he was. She's disgusted, and bails. Still, he pines away for her. Why can't she love him even though he isn't PAUL??? Interesting lyrics. They remind me of a deception that Heather Mills once described as beyond belief.
Anyone else see some peculiarities in these lyrics? Why is the writer referring to himself as No One?
What is going on here?

For me the lyrics means that Faul is singing for ''For No One''because he doesn't accept himself as a person anymore,he just accept himself as somebody, who is wearing a mask and that is all,and playing a role. He doesn't have his own identity anymore,he is an actor.
