Holy crap!!! "The Red Telephone" Writer(s): Arthur Lee Sitting on the hillside Watching all the people die I'll feel much better on the other side I'll thumb a ride I believe in magic Why? Because it is so quick I don't need power when I'm hypnotized Look in my eyes What are you seeing? (I see...) How do you feel? I'll feel real phony when my name is Phil Or was that Bill?(Sha-la-lala-lala-lala-lah) Life goes on here (Sha-la-lala-lala-lala-lah) Day after day I don't know if I am living or if I'm Supposed to beSometimes my life is so eerie And if you think I'm happy Paint me (white) (yellow) (pink) (Sha-la-lala-lala-lala-lah) I've been here once (Sha-la-lala-lala-lala-lah) I've been here twice I don't know if the third's the fourth or if the The fifth's to fix Sometimes I deal with numbers And if you wanna count me Count me (out) (in)I don't need the times of day Any time with me's OK I just don't want you using up my time 'Cause that's not right Ahh... They're locking them up today They're throwing away the key I wonder who it will be tomorrow, you or me? They're locking them up today They're throwing away the key I wonder who it'll be tomorrow, you or me? They're locking them up today They're throwing away the key I wonder who it will be tomorrow, you or me? We're all normal and we want our freedom Freedom Freedom Freedom Freedom Freedom I want my freedom All of God's childrens gotta have their freedom ---------------- "The Red Telephone" Writer(s): Arthur Lee

We're all normal and we want our freedom Freedom Freedom Freedom Freedom Freedom I want my freedom All of God's childrens gotta have their freedom ---------------- "The Red Telephone" Writer(s): Arthur Lee Well, I always wondered what the Canyonites knew about the Mersey Beats. This song clears it up. A smoking gun that the Canyonites knew about Mersey band oddities, with the references to "phony", then "Phil" and "Bill". Yep, Holy Crap, Letter B. They knew who and what was holed up over in Benedict Canyon. I believe The Byrds visited the Beatles in Benedict Canyon, so I suppose these lyrics shouldn't come as a surprise. Can't find much on potential interpretations to this song. And in the material I can find, no one takes a stab at the references to "phony" and "Phil" and "Bill". But what the heck else could it mean? It is a blatant reference to the GOAT band. The song, released in 1967, was on the Forever Changes album, produced by Bruce Botnik. From my own knowledge, Botnik was only the sound engineer for the Doors at the time. Elektra had hired Paul Rothchild as the Doors producer, though Botnik did produce the L.A. Woman album when a disgusted Rothchild walked out of the L.A. Woman sessions. Apparently, Botnik decided to bring in the Wrecking Crew to assist with Love's Forever Changes album. The title "The Red Telephone", in my opinion, clearly refers to the phone used to convey high level intelligence. People seem to believe that Lee was poking fun at the hippie counter-culture in this song, with references to Freedom, Freedom, I want my Freedom. Could be. Morrison, Lee's record label mate, did this in Five to One. "Your ballroom days are over baby, night is drawing near", then "With a flower in your hand, trying to tell me no one understands. Trade in your hours for a handful dimes". Funny, how things went from "I want my Freedom", to simply, "I want my MTV".

Well you don't need cryptic or esoteric song lyrics to know that the songwriters of the LA canyons knew about The Beatles replacements. Here's David Crosby at a Fetals press conference. Is this what they mean by "behind the curtain?" (answer: no.)
Worth noting in that presser Faul's screwed down hairdo as they try to make his parting on the right into a parting on the left.

At about 1:29 in this video, this farce by a channel owner pokes fun at the screwed down Paul hair in your video link, comparing it to the hair of an early Paul. Then, asking Paul what kind of mascara he uses, what is the secret behind his long lashes, and whether he had plastic surgery. I think it's hilarious. The kinds of questions we'd ask them today. Actually, the video belongs in the Beatle Fun area. I knew about the Crosby thing. It's a telltale sign alright. I see your point. I just think the Red Telephone lyric is more blatant than cryptic.

That Kiss performance got me asking the million dollar question. The first song I ever heard by Kiss was Crazy Crazy Nights in the 80s. I had heard of the band because one of my classmates who I met in high school several years earlier was a heavy rocker and had pictures and albums of theirs. Also Gene Simmons has appeared on my social media of late being criticised for his covid related outbursts. Pushing agendas is what these doppels do, but I never really wanted to investigate until you posted that video.
First thing that struck watching Black Diamond was its wildly different energy to Crazy Nights. When I did hear that song in the 80s I thought, "meh, it's just like any other soft rock." Then I never heard ought of their's nor sought it out. At first when I watched Black Diamond I didn't want to investigate because of the amount of make up they wore. Then I thought just have a look I to their history to see if there's any circumstantial evidence- any breaks or changes in behaviour.
I googled Kiss+concert+history and looked at the top suggestions. I found a top website from the fandom not only showing every date and tour but also bits of history. I looked at 1975 first because that's when they performed on the Midnight Special. Nothing strange there so I looked at "that year" when so many were replaced 1979. A write up on that page said they were returning after a break in which they had all done solo projects. It sounded familiar:
New York Groove is a song I have listened to 1000s of times while playing Grand Theft Auto IV, so it was a surprise to learn who the artist was who recorded it, but I digress.
I clicked on the 1978 link to see what they were doing before this break and was taken aback to see five of their last dates were at Tokyo's Budokan arena. I've seen many an original play there before they got replaced. It's like Germany in its connection with the cult. Conquered nations from WWII being some kind of hub of activity. Their last date was Magic Mountain - a place I've zoomed in on not long ago while investigating another act that was replaced but I can't recall right now.
It's all very suspicious and full of familiar patterns. Nothing concrete yet, but all the signs so far point to them possibly being replaced before or after these solo projects. I shall leave you with some classic geezer rock
