There were earlier stocky Johns with narrower heads and also at least one much taller and two much shorter Pauls, but you don't often see that tall Ringo standing next to any of the others. I've only seen I think two other pictures of him proximate to any of the rest.

Yes, I've seen a variety of these guys. I remember seeing George Harrison on Dick Cavett's TV show in the early 70's, saying that "yes, there were sixteen of us" in response to a teaser coming out of Cavett's mouth, where Cavett asked GH if it was true that one of the American tours the phonies did was nothing more than a stand-in set of the four of them. I always thought that the reason George got knifed at Friar Park decades later was the 'filths' revenge for what George said during that Cavette interview. These people hold grudges, sometimes for centuries...

So I guess the question is...were there ever four originals?
Or were there always 16 to choose from?
And how many of them are still alive?
