Assuming it really is Faul in Africa instead of Paul, what was he doing there? I imagine he'd be in London undergoing intensive training..... ;D

good question. I don't know, but my guess would be they got him out of England, because that was the place where more people would know what Paul looked like "in real life", as opposed to only seeing him on TV or in magazines.

perhaps procedures were performed in Kenya, in Nairobi? Not likely, but it would be out of the way. Then cosmetc surgery healing takes a few weeks. Kenya was out of the spotlight. One might get a tan in Kenya if one were outdoors a lot. You can't really get a lot of sunshine right after a procedure on the face. Why would he not come back very tanned? Who vacations in Miami and comes back lily white? Why avoids the sun on vacation? Was Paul tanned in November-December? Tans do fade, though........

We have always thought that "Bungallow Bill" was William Shepperd, the explorer. Maybe Bungallow Bill is just (or also) William / Faul, on his trip to Kenya:
Hey Bungallow Bill, what did you kill? He went out tiger hunting...

With all due respect your opinion cannot be cited as a reference. The thread you posted was just more of your opinions stated as if they were facts. By "reference" I mean where can you offer supporting evidence that John called Paul/Faul "Bungalow Bill" in reference to "William Sheppard" the explorer? In other words: how did you come to this conclusion? Did you read it somewhere? Did you speak to John Lennon? If it is only your opinion based on your research that is fine but to be fair you should state it as " I believe that John referred to Faul as Bungalow Bill to give fans a reference to a famous explorer" rather than the erroneous "William Sheppard (Faul) was called 'Bungalow Bill' by John to give fans the reference to the famous explorer" This would be a reference: John Lennon 1980 (either Playboy or Rolling Stone) www.geocities.com/~beatleboy1/dba09white.htmlAbout the song "Bungalow Bill": "Oh, that was written about a guy in Maharishi's meditation camp who took a short break to go shoot a few poor tigers, and then come back to commune with God. There used to be a character called Jungle Jim and I combined him with Buffalo Bill. It's a sort of teenage social comment song, and a bit of a joke. Yoko's on that one, I believe." add to that this: by Gina Bass, Occoquan Inquirer www.voccoquan.com/Gina/tigers.htmYou can't discuss Man vs. Tiger, without mentioning Jim Corbett, the less Indo-centric, and Anglophilic may not know that the Beatles tune, "Bungalow Bill", was written about his adventures.Edward James Corbett was born in 1875 of English ancestry in Kumaon, at the picturesque foothills of the Himalayas. Corbett remembered his boyhood as a sort of forest idyll. Lying in his bed at night, he would listen to the sounds of the jungle. He learned to imitate the cries and calls of the animals so precisely that once, when he impersonated a leopard, a British hunter and a leopard crept toward him simultaneously. Both the Indian villagers themselves and the British would petition Corbett for his assistance, with a typical villager request reading something like this: "We, the public, venture to suggest that you very kindly take trouble to come to this place and shoot this tiger and save the public from this calamity. For this act of kindness the public will be highly obliged and will pray for your long life and prosperity." But, no matter how much prayer went into it, Jim Corbett would never kill a tiger where he felt the animal was not a proven habitual killer. One or two attacks did not make it 'proven' and Corbett firmly believed that most tiger attacks were due to misfortune or a tigress protecting her cubs, rather than a true man-eater on the prowl. Of all the sub-species of tiger it is the Bengal which has gained the worst reputation as a man-eater. It has been said that "at one time, in parts of India, at the beginning of the 19th century, man-eaters were so prevalent that it seemed to be a question of whether man or tiger would survive." Each night, fires encircled the villages and the native people only ever travelled in large groups, fully armed and beating drums to scare the cats. In the 1930s tigers killed between 1,000 and 1,600 people each year, causing terror among the human population. One famous tigress known as Champawat killed some 200 men and women before being driven out of Nepal. She moved to another location, this time in India, and continued to kill bringing her total up to 436 before she was tracked down and killed in 1937 by Jim Corbett. Between 1906 and 1941, Corbett hunted down at least a dozen man-eaters. It is estimated that the combined total of men, women and children those 12 animals are thought to have killed before he stopped them was more than 1,500. In the 1920s, Corbett became appalled at the ever-increasing number of hunters, British and Indian, in the forests. He was concerned about the view of jungles as a source of profit from timber rather than a sanctuary for wildlife. He began speaking to groups of schoolchildren about their natural heritage. He helped create the Association for the Preservation of Game in the United Provinces, and the All-India Conference for the Preservation of Wild Life, and he established India's first national park, inaugurated in 1934 in the Kumaon Hills..." more info on Mr Corbett: www.nwf.org/productions/indiatiger/corbett.htmlpets.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1912961265.cms-------------------------------- btw African American explorer "William Sheppard" was less hunter and more missionary, fundraiser, and human-rights advocate. You can read all about his exploits in the link below. At least to me he doesn't seem to fit the lyrics of Bungalow Bill as well as Mr Corbett. www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2002/010/26.73.html

"We?" Don't drag anyone else into this.
I'm speaking to you directly.
You alone are the one making the claim that (I quote): "William Sheppard (Faul) was called 'Bungalow Bill' by John to give fans the reference to the famous explorer"
I ask you how you know this and you cannot answer me. You dodge the question and chalk it up to Lennon is lying...that is what you're implying, no?
What would you say if I told you I could post volumes of material that proves Lennon was not lying in this case? Would you/could you eventually admit you were wrong...or would it result in the same: all lies.
Burden of proof is on you -- you made the claim. I offered counter-evidence. I'm waiting on yours.
It's ok to be wrong every once in a while. Maybe it's best to leave this one alone before you dig yourself a bigger hole.

You alone are the one making the claim that (I quote): "William Sheppard (Faul) was called 'Bungalow Bill' by John to give fans the reference to the famous explorer" Simply not true! Just looking at this thread not started by myself at: invanddis.proboards29.com/index.cgi?board=TAR&action=display&thread=1079051598...and who's sung the song "The Continuing Story Of Bungalow Bill"....please I don't remember his name.... if only you'd help me... Once Darkhorse (if I remember well) told us that George said: "99% of what told about the Beatles is false" Good. So show us them all. It could be really interesting. What we (Paultruth team) has told in 60IF was not proven as a lie yet. On the contrary the investigation made by members here reaffirms the possibilty that 60IF is what closer to the final truth. I advice you to wait a while before telling that. But I am not here to talk about that tale.Read what already told in this thread. People decide. Starting threats? Why?

Debating with you is about as fun as root canal surgery. Nevertheless I feel like you've challenged me so for the (hopefully) last time I will address your counter-arguments piece by piece: Do you even read the threads you post? To answer your sarcastic question: John Lennon wrote and sang "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill." I posted earlier Lennon's own words about the origins of the song with reference material to back up the claim. Regarding the thread you posted for a reply, there is nothing supporting your claim other than a still from the Free As A Bird video and wild speculation. In fact most of the replies in that thread agreed there were no "clues" to be found in that Free As A Bird Still at all. A poster called DarkHorse offered there *might* be a reference to the *famous wildlife hunter* William Sheppard but I posted evidence that William Sheppard was not a big game hunter at all -- more of a human rights activist than anything (did you bother to look at my references before you attacked my criticism?). Again you avoid the real question I asked: show me evidence that John Lennon referred to Paul as Bungalow Bill. A still from the Free As A Bird video with a bunch of *maybes* ain't gonna cut the mustard. You gotta do better than that my friend. I wish you wouldn't drag other people into these arguments. I did a Google search for this quote (even tried just "George Harrison" "99%" "false" ) and I found nothing to support the claim that George Harrison ever made this statement. Maybe the statement is paraphrased wrong? Anyway, I'll even submit George *could* have said this but my question becomes where, when, and how was this statement made and in what context? You see, once again we return to my #1 criticism with your postings: you post supposed *facts* without a shred of reference material to back up your claims. Its all speculation. Nothing wrong with speculation as long as you pose the info as your opinion. Problem is you state everything as if it was fact and that is a dangerous and irresponsible thing to do. It was a hypothetical question. You know darn well if I could show you irrefutable evidence to prove without a doubt John Lennon wrote "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill" about Jim Corbett/Buffalo Bill and not *big game hunter* William Sheppard you would simply stick to the usual "it's all lies" retort. It's about as effective as a grade school "I know you are but what am I" argument. You are a piece of work. Read what I wrote again -- I didn't say you were lying at all, I merely implied your only defense is "its all lies". But of course you take this as an opportunity to plug your "investigation" and the "Paultruth" team. So who is on the "Paultruth" team these days (not counting your multiple screen names) From the above looks like you need to take your own advice. Who's starting threats? I am one of the most non-violent people you'd ever meet so I can assure you I am not threatening you in the least. I do find your rampant misuse of speculation as fact disturbing and irresponsible. You also appear to me to be someone incapable of admiting they are wrong. You would have a bright future as a defense attorney in the U.S. Where the heck did this come from? Billy Shears is Ringo. He sings the next song. You know: "The singers gonna sing a song...and he wants you all to sing along...so let me introduce to you...the one and only Billy Shears...and Sgt Peppers LHCB" and then Ringo sings. You do know Ringo sings "A Little Help From My Friends", right? Summary: I'm over it Sun King, so please follow suit. No more arguing over this trivial and silly "Bungalow Bill" nonsense. Just please PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop stating things as fact that you have no way of proving. If you think you have found a *clue* just preface it by saying "I believe that..." or "It's my opinion that..." and I will be happy.

Stop the presses!
At last...WE AGREE! ;D
No doubt there are lots of "Bill" references. Decent amount of sheep references too (shears is a stretch for me) but the Beatles were fond of animals in many of their lyrics and subjects (blackbird, walrus, Henry the horse, etc). Paul also had "Martha" the sheepdog
I'd add to this list:
"high" "Hi, Hi, Hi" "Get high with a little help from my friends" "Because the wind is high" " Don't know why she's ridin' so high" "Get back Loretta...wearing her high-heel shoes" etc

"Stop the presses" is just an expression...means "hold everything...here comes some big news"
After pondering a bit I'm having difficulty coming up with more than a handful of Bill/William references. Would you do me a favor and either point me to a thread that lists all the Bill/William references post-67 or list them yourself? Thanks

I did find one sheep reference pre-1967 (from 1963):
Song "So How Come (No One Loves Me)" has the line "It's the ugly duck, the little black sheep, and me"
Like I said I'm having second thoughts...so far I've come up with:
Bill or William: song "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill" the "one and only Billy Shears" lyric the "Beatle Bill" comment by John (or was it George?) song "I Will" (a stretch to say the least)
Sheep or Shearing: Cover and title of "Ram" album the "one and only Billy Shears" lyric Martha the sheep dog
Certainly there must be many others. Help me fill in the gaps...thanks.

There's also this album cover. This Percy Thrillington LP was discussed on the other forum several months ago. I just found it listed as a "McCartney" album.
