The former Beatle last toured North America in 2002. At the time, according to Billboard Boxscore, he was the top touring artist in the world, grossing $126 million from 58 shows. I remember quite well that during that tour he was performing an unusually high amount of Beatles' songs in concert and I thought it was strange because he had been performing for years before that so why now? It seemed at the time to me that it had something to do with George being dead(he just died in Nov 2001) but i couldn't quite make sense of it. In light of PID it makes a whole lot of sense now. I think Sir Paul was performing a lot of early Beatles' stuff in that tour too. Thanks for posting this btw.

I'm really tempted to go to the concert in D.C. I hate concerts, but come on, it's Faul freaking McCartney.

Actually, the first tour that was dominated by Beatles songs was early 90's. 93 or 94', I forget. That tour's shows were 3/4 Beatles songs & 1/4 Macca solo material. One thing I noticed was that when the occational Macca solo song started up, there would be a rush to the beer stands! Go get beer during those Macca songs & be back in yer seat in time for the next Beatles number seemed to be everybody's plan....me included.

Well when I saw him in 1990, there was a good amount of Beatles songs, like 5 or 6 with a lot of Wings stuff but it wasn't the majority. And then when I read his song list for NYC in 2002 and it was dominated by Beatles' songs. The difference was significant enough to catch my attention.

The regular Ticketmaster sales start at 10 AM Monday (gotta remember to be near a computer) but just for fun, I thought I'd see what the internet scalpers are charging. (they advertise here actually) For a front row seat... $2500 per ticket!! Uh no, I don't need to be that close I guess..

(they advertise here actually) For a front row seat... $2500 per ticket!! Uh no, I don't need to be that close I guess.. I didn't have any trouble getting a really good seat for the 93 tour. I started calling ticketmaster the instant tickets went on sale. Got a 3rd row seat for whatever the regular price was. With this new automated software these dang scalpers have now, I guess you'd need to be even faster getting that ticket nowdays. There's an article in the April issue of Rolling Stone about these fancy packages some artists are selling now., including Paul. His package was $1700 PLUS airfare! It had excellent seats & hotel accomidations, & a pass to the soundcheck for a show in Spain. Huh? That's all??? Whoopee I'm at the soundcheck For $1700 Paul should cook dinner, serve my drinks & twist up the afterdinner smokes for me! ...and light some incense while yer at it!

Ok, they added a second show mind you, and I still couldn't get anything at either show, not even up in the rafters.. What is going on here? There's like a hundred ebay auctions going on as we speak of course, where do these guys get the damn things??
Ah well, maybe I'll wait for things to settle a little, then find a reputable scalper, lol.

Wanna see something weird? I've been making the rounds of the scalper web sites, and this web site has a date of May 17, 3AM listed: www.southerntickets.net/paulmccartney.htmI saved this, because it will disappear soon, at the very least because the date is 2 days away: home.comcast.net/~joej7272/paulmccartney.htmA search of the HP Pavilion site shows no upcoming McCartney performance: www.hppsj.com/Tuesday morning at 3 o'clock?Ok, I know that's out there, but this is the second time I've seen a McCartney concert listed at the HP Pavilion, and it was coming in a couple of days.. (I didn't save it the first time) Only one set of tickets available, which is also odd for such a big venue, "floor 1, row 11"
