I have been thinking about buying the Wall DVD, I am tempted to run out and get it right now, but when reading comments on amazon like "this movie ruined my life" and that it will f*ck with your head. I have never really trusted Pink Floyd because of the pyramid symboltry and the whole Oz thing is just "unnatural" to say the least. So if any of you have seen it and can offer your opinions feel free.

I actually prefer unnatural sounding stuff that'll mess with my head, but as far as I'm concerned, Pink Floyd's way too normal to even come close to that description. Never been much of a PF fan. I find'em rather boring.... so I haven't bothered with The Wall. The borefest would probably put me to sleep. But that's just me I guess... my daughter & her crew are huge Floyd fans, & a lot of my old hippie friends like Floyd. I wonder what the new PF concert dvd would be like? Korn does a great cover of Another Brick in the Wall. Finally a version of that song I like! Want a 60's movie that'll mess with yer head? Check out Zappa's 200 Motels (vhs only so far) with Ringo as Zappa & Keith Moon as a drugged out nun!

Oh man.. Someone that fragile should stick to watching 50's sitcoms. Don't worry about it, you will survive I'm sure. LOL. I saw this when I was probably 11 or 12 at a second run theater, and I'll never forget the old guy who ran this old run down place asking my mom if she really thought I shoud see such an "adult" movie. (it was rated R) Yeah there were some four letter words and if I'm not mistaken some topless females.. (heh) ;D But, mostly I was confused, I just didn't understand a darn thing that was going on! Maybe now I'm old enough?

Well I ran out and bought it and watched it twice (once with commentary). I enjoyed it and pretty much understood the whole story and what was going on. It is a tad graphic I suppose at times, but it is about a man having a psychological breakdown. Also, I noticed in the commentary that Roger Waters said that it was about himself, syd, and "other people in rock"....... Who could it be now?
Yet, I wanted to hear beatlies' input on the floyd, he is this boards expert on MKultra (i think?)........ Every board seems to have one it seems...... Every board has a Doc too, theres always the smart guy with the sprawling posts full of references and humor....... Its a......dare I say it....... PHENOMENON!

(yer supposed to be trippin' when ya watch that) With my folks growin' up, Tennessee Ernie Ford was about as wild as it got. My dad heard some loud Zappa comin' out of my room one mornin' & barged in & broke all my Zappa records, sayin' that music was bad for ya if ya sat there & listened to it. This comin' from a preacher who had a full-time MUSIC MINISTER workin' for him! ( I promptly barged into his living room & smashed all his Justin Wilson records coz they also had those bad words & then went out & rebought all my Zappa records)

WTG eyesbleed ! Man, YOU CRACK ME UP !!!
You naughty, naughty boy !!! Actually, I can see either of my sons doing the same thing.
One time my hubby put their nintendo 64 in the attic to try to teach them a lesson. My sons took every piece of furniture that they could get their hands on & stacked them up to try to reach the attic hatch. I almost had a heart attack when I saw that. They were maybe 8 & 10 years old at the time !!! [img src="http://galeon.hispavista.com/akostuff/img/Dunno2[1].gif"] ;D

Hahahaha! A mind blower trying to picture that one! No.. My parents were pretty liberal, and didn't feel it would harm my delicate psyche to see things that were a bit "colorful".. (usually what would happen at an R rated movie is that I would fall asleep anyway, give me a cartoon!) Even so, I suspect the main reason we went is because my uncle (who is more around your age, and so more like an older brother) wanted to see it. It's funny, it was my mom who bought Dark Side of the Moon when it first came out, for no other reason than alll the radio DJ's were raving about it, and my uncle ended up being the one to play it 100's of times. They weren't hip enough to go to Woodstock, sadly.. What a story that would have made, haha.

I was at Woodstock the year AFTER the festival. My aunt used to rent a bungaloo in Monticello, NY every summer.

I'm glad you brought up Zappa eyesbleed, because I am currently expanding my musical tastes and was wondering if he is any good, or what should I listen to from him to see if I like him?
So far I have consumed ((by consumed I mean own most of the stuff from)) Cream ((just buy the "Those were the days" box set and you got all the studio and some of the live)) then with my new internet connection I have dl'ed all of Led Zeppelin's studio work, and everything of Pink Floyd up to The Wall, I refuse to dl The Who because the bands that I really really like I actually pay money for, which is why i bought every beatles studio album, every doors studio album, every Lennon solo album, and even every Sir.Paul studio album (trust me the Wingspan collection is ALL you need from this guy), and minus 4 from every Hari. But dont think I am stuck in the past, I also like Punk stuff as well, and I own alot of The Offspring and Green Day, I cant get into the Sex Pistols because the vocals are horrendous.... But yeah anyways, to make a long story short (TOO LATE) I was wondering about Zappa, because he, along with Jefferson Airplane and a few other bands are still in my "testing field" (i.e. I am going to sample some of their stuff then determine if they are worthy ;D of my purchasing.

As far as zappa's concerned, I don't think yer gonna agree with my preference, so I'm gonna make an educated guess as to where ya oughtta start. I'm not so much a "zappa" fan as a "Mothers of Invention" fan. The albums I'll recommend are right where I stopped buyin' Zappa, but a lot of people mention these as their favorites. I'd suggest Over nite Sensation, One Size Fits All, & the live album Roxy & Elsewhere www.science.uva.nl/~robbert/zappa/albums/My personal faves are Burnt Weenie Sandwich, Uncle Meat, We're Only In It For The Money, & Lumpy Gravy, but I'm pretty sure you'll prefer the 3 mentioned above.
