From: LINKA cassette tape thought to contain Jimi Hendrix playing a distorted electric guitar one night shortly before he died has been discovered in an old London recording studio.
We will play out with this evocative and effervescent recording of the Welsh National anthem, Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau on tonight's show. The track can also be heard here.
But do you think this is a genuine or fake Jimi recording? The debate begins here.

I've asked a Jimi fan to advise me on this one. I'll post relevant comments.

After I posted this, I read the rather critical comments.. I'm not a Jimi fan really, although I enjoy his music, just don't go out of my way. One thing I thought of right away, anyone who has recorded into a cassette recorder knows.. it sounds like absolute crap, and there is plenty of tape hiss. This sounds like it was recorded yesterday in that regard, but who knows, I trust a real fan to have a sense of the situation.

The fan said it's the real deal. "Jimi had a way of "phrasing" that I hear in that," he said.

I heard it on the news - it sounds fake to me - but if it is true it is not significant anyway. Its not as if it was a new song - it is just a pastiche of the star spangled banner - Brian May did one when he did the national anthem for the queen in this style. And it being the Welsh National Anthem it is presumably a joke - nothing against the Welsh of course.
