Here's a bit from a radio interview John did around the time he released Cold Turkey. The interviewer was mostly interested in the PID rumors going around. Of course John insisted that "Paul" was quite alive, etc. with the usual tap dance around the issue of whether he was replaced with a double. The clue is after he introduced Cold Turkey, he joked "don't believe the rumors about this one either." But everyone now knows the story about Cold Turkey was true - that it's about his kicking heroin. So was he, by analogy, implying the PID rumors were true as well? Like "Paul's not dead," *wink* "just like I never used heroin." *wink* Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but notice how he stumbles a bit after saying it, like he had just said more than he should have. I think maybe he had too much integrity to be completely deceptive about it, so he planted another clue.
