Perhaps this has been mentioned before but the patch on Bill's left arm in the Sgt. Pepper photos is believed to be OPD, meaning Officially Pronounced Dead by many. However it really is a patch for the Ontario Provincial Police. Here is the website for the Ontario Provincial Police. It was established in 1909. Look at the symbol in the left top corner: www.gov.on.ca/opp/welcome/english/default.htmand now look at the patch on Bills' left arm in the 3rd pic: www.jpgr.co.uk/pcs7027.htmlI'd say that's pretty clear.

Yessir, you've nailed that one! Paul is wearing a patch from the OPP on his sleeve for sure...dang and all this time I thought it was OPD! I'm kidding, of course. But I will agree that it is pretty clear he is wearing that patch on his sleeve I have an Auburn Tigers t-shirt that I've had for a long time that I wear when I mow the lawn, and I'm not even from Auburn, or Alabummer, nor do I even follow the Auburn Tigers at all. I just liked the t-shirt because of the colors, and it's really baggy and lightweight and great to wear for working outdoors. I also have an assortment of foreign military patches I collected over the course of the 10 years I lived in Europe in the military. The nicer ones I had stitched onto my flight helmet bag as sort of a status symbol to other pilots that I have been around Europe and met up with pilots from some of the more elite European aviation units. One commander I had didn't like it and was going to force me to remove them until I asked him to show me a regulation which stipulated what was and was not authorized to be sewn on a flight helmet bag, which there was no clear guidance for by the regulations...so my patches stayed on it. In fact, I still have it as I managed to obscound with it when I got out of the military ;D Your hard-earned tax dollars at work here I tell ya!

Yessir, you've nailed that one! Paul is wearing a patch from the OPP on his sleeve for sure...dang and all this time I thought it was OPD! Yes and the radio stations in America in the fall of 1969(when the Paul is dead hysteria was at its height) were claiming there was no such thing as the Ontario Police Dept and they were obviously wrong. It's just that it's called Ontario Provincial Police! The question is why on Earth was he wearing it on his Pepper costume? He could easily have had that patch and worn it on a jean jacket or something like that as a souvenir or whatever. But on a photo shoot for the biggest rock 'n' roll album of all time? And why is John staring right in his face on one of the photos? It's too much to dismiss.

Well, you know a photograph is only an image of something that took place in that particular 1/125th or 1/250th, or whatever shutterspeed was being used, of one second. So you can't really tell if anyone is actually staring at anything in that much time.
As to the patch on the Pepper Suit...well, it DOES go well on it, I mean it isn't gawdy or anything, and it looks uniform-ish. It would be much different if it was a Hell's Angels patch or something like that...which you DO see a lot on jean jackets.
