"Casualties at dawn"
A casualty is someone who is killed in a war, not in an accident. This goes w/ my current working theory that Paul's death was not an accident.

Speaking of ELO and Jeff Lynne, I came across something recently. I think it all started by following a link to "Strawberry Hill"... I mean... fields, hill... tomato, tomatto lol. Not quite, but you know what I mean. Anyhow, there's a castle, Strawberry Hill near Twickenham, built by Horace Walpole, 4th Earl of Orford in the 1700's. Among other things, he was a poet who had a string of affairs with many unmarriageable women. I don't know, it just made me remember the song "The Diary of Horace Wimp". by ELO. Nothing really outstanding lyrically, but there's something Paulishly familiar about the some of the imagery in this vid that I can't quite put my finger on... yet. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFU9HYyMVxQGosh, I must've really liked ELO back in the day... I had 5 or 6 of their LP's. P.S. How the hell do you embed vids in here, anyway? loool Yes, I know, observe the "YOUTUBE" button above... it just doesn't seem to work for me.

I found a song by Paul Jones, ex-member of Manfred Mann that he recorded in 1967:
Hey, little girl, I'm in a whirl I've been a bad, bad boy I'm on my knees, forgive me, please I've been a bad, bad boy
I'm not the man you think I am I give you a warning You'll wake up and find me gone} I'LL FOLLOW Some sunny morning} THE SUN
Things that I've said run through my head} THERE'S A PLACE I've been a bad, bad boy My past is black, I'm coming back I've been a bad, bad boy.
In my time I've done a lot of things I'd better not remember But you see such a change in me I'm making you forget
Your resolution To run it out from this confusion You got to face it, I'm a loser} ! I'm just a clown when I'm down} !
And while you sleep, I softly weep I've been a bad, bad boy. Here comes the night, we'll be alright I've been a bad, bad boy
Just hold me hand, I'll take you where The sun and moon are always shining One fine day you gonna turn to me And see a silver lining, yeah I've been a bad, bad boy I've been a bad, bad boy
There's a video of Paul Jones singing this on veoh.com. Also, wasn't this song from the movie Paul Jones starred in, PRIVILEGE?

I've been a bad, bad boy by Paul JonesThis classic hit comes from 1967 and it got to no.5 in the charts of that very year! www.youtube.com/watch?v=noHdZrQ2hOMInteresting find, paulombo!Doctor Jimmy The Who Quadrophenia 320 KBPS STEREO OriginalmxPolydor Original Mix Japan www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftgAoWTUzEU(Sorry for the delayed response P(D)enny, I didn't see this 'til now.)This is interesting. The Dr. Jeckyl & Mr. Hyde aspect of the song. Doctor Jimmy and mister Jim When I'm pilled you don't notice him, He only comes out when I drink my gin This theme has come out in songs by other groups. The Byrds' "Artificial Energy" comes to mind. I'll have to give Quadrophenia a listen. I've never actually sat down and listened to it end to end, but certainly The Who have been clue givers in the PID arena.

Okay, here we go! Quadrophenia www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5K4osAGSpEen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quadrophenia_(film)"Quadrophenia is a 1979 British film based on the 1973 rock opera album Quadrophenia by The Who. The film stars Phil Daniels in the leading role as a Mod named Jimmy...
It's London, 1964, and Jimmy is a Mod (fashion-obsessed working class youths who listen to black American soul music, take amphetamines and ride Vespa and Lambretta scooters). The Mods' arch-enemies are the Rockers, who in turn wear black leather and ride motorcycles. Disillusioned by his parents and a dead-end job as a runner in an advertising firm, Jimmy only finds an outlet for his teenage angst with his mod pals Dave, Chalky and Spider. However his angst and confusion are compounded by the fact that one of his Rocker rivals is in fact childhood friend Kevin (Ray Winstone), to whom he comments "I don't wanna be like everybody else - that's why I'm a Mod, see?". A three-day bank holiday provides the excuse for the rivalry between the two gangs to come to a head, as they both descend upon the seaside town of Brighton.
But when Jimmy is arrested during the Brighton riot, which was based on the real life "Second Battle of Hastings" Bank Holiday riot of 1964, his life begins to go downhill. He is fined and kicked out of his house by his mother, who found his stash of blues (blue pills of amphetamine). He then quits his job, blows his severance package on blues, and finds out that his crush, Steph is now the girlfriend of his mate Dave. After a short fight with Dave, he wrecks his scooter and finds out his idol, the suave Mod "poster boy" Ace Face (played by Sting), is in reality a bellboy. He steals Ace's scooter and heads out to the cliffs, leading him to an uncertain fate...
Only one scene in the whole film was shot on the studio; all others were on location. Beachy Head, where Jimmy may or may not try to kill himself at the end of the film, was the location of a real-life suicide that influenced the soundtrack and film adaptation (Beachy Head is a well-known suicide spot with locals). The stunt coordinators underestimated the length that the scooter would fly through the air after being driven off Beachy Head. Franc Roddam, who shot the scene from a helicopter, was almost hit."

I've seen it a bunch, but I've never run across an *official* explanation. Was this the proposed cover for the "Doll's House" project? If so, where can I substantiate this? Now, on to the good part. At the 2:33 mark of the Quadrophenia clip, there are SEVERAL faces visible on the white cliff. In fact, the Ringo half face from the "Doll's House" cover LEAPS off the screen immediately. I'm attaching two versions of the screen shot below: This one is untouched: In this one, I adjusted the light a bit in order to bring out the faces that were already visible, and then labeled two of them. The Ringo half-face appears to be the same image as the one on the Doll's House cover. The Paul face looks familiar, but I can pinpoint where I know it from. Edit:
I just noticed that the tagline for the Quadrophenia movie was: Helen...........erm, I mean "Hell On Wheels!"

We've had many discussions about the cliffs on the alternate White Album cover, and the debris on the rocks. Some "moped accident". Does anyone know more about the video (where it came from, etc.)? There was a movie? (See next post) I posted this last week, but got no response. This led me to believe that either nobody saw it, or that you all think I'm way off base. Anyway, I'm reposting, and adding a new development that I hit upon yesterday while watching the Free As A Bird video. START OF LAST WEEK'S POST:"Iv'e got a few things for you , B. Question: Where does this alternate White Album cover come from? I've seen it a bunch, but I've never run across an *official* explanation. Was this the proposed cover for the "Doll's House" project? If so, where can I substantiate this? Now, on to the good part. At the 2:33 mark of the Quadrophenia clip, there are SEVERAL faces visible on the white cliff. In fact, the Ringo half face from the "Doll's House" cover LEAPS off the screen immediately. I'm attaching two versions of the screen shot below: UNTOUCHED Quadrophenia screen capture: In this one, I adjusted the light a bit in order to bring out the faces that were already visible, and then labeled two of them. The Ringo half-face appears to be the same image as the one on the Doll's House cover. The Paul profile looks familiar, but I can't pinpoint where I know it from. Edit:
I just noticed that the tagline for the Quadrophenia movie was: Helen...........erm, I mean "Hell On Wheels!"
www.imdb.com/title/tt0079766/" END OF LAST WEEK'S POSTUpdate: In the Quadrophenia screen cap above I outlined a profile that I proposed was of Paul. It's of the LEFT side of his face. I said that it looked familiar, but that I couldn't quite figure out why it was familiar. Then yesterday, I was watching the Free As As Bird video and caught a similar profile (but from the RIGHT). It's on the side of the police van in the car accident scene, and can be seen at the 2:22 mark, right next to the image of Paul's smashed face. Have a look: So anyway, it DOES seem to me that the Beatles faces have somehow been superimposed onto the Brighton cliff in the final scene of Quadrophenia (just like the unreleased Doll's House cover), which may or may not be a suicide by motorcycle, but is most certainly similar enough to a MOPED ACCIDENT to be taken as a symbolic indicator of McCartney's "death", or replcacement, or something...

I only know this image as the "alternate 'White Album' cover". I would not call it "the Doll House cover". It's not related to "The Doll House" to the best of my knowledge. Beyond that, I know very little about it.
I don't know whether the cliffs in the Who video are the same ones represented in the alternate White Album cover. I can't say that there is an exact replication of faces on the alt white album cover, but I very much doubt it. I mean, what are the odds that George Martin, an unidentified female, Ringo, a child-faced Paul, Denny Laine, John, Dr. Mengele, and "Faul"(?) would naturally appear on the side of cliffs? I'd say there's no chance of that, but I could certainly buy that the artist of the alt White Album was thinking of the 'apparent' faces on the cliffs at the location in the Who video.
I see what you mean about the "Paul profile" in the Free Bird video resembling the one on the cliff, but reversed, but I am inclined to think that that is a coincidence. Good observation, though! Yikes!

Yikes! I'm not suggesting that the ALL of faces on the alt. White Album cover are exaclty the same as the ones in the Quadrophenia clip, but I DO think that the Ringo half face from the alt. White Album is VERY similar to the one in the Quad clip. Further, I'm saying that the scene from Quadrophenia (released in 1979) has Beatle faces ON A CLIFF, just as the alt. White Album cover (from 11 years prior) had Beatle faces ON A CLIFF. The faces don't need to be exact replicas in order for the connection to be made. My quandary is that I can't decide whether I think the Brighton cliff had NATURALLY OCCURRING face-like structures that were modified to look like Paul and Ringo, or if they were somehow added to the Quadrophenia shot via some sort of special effect. Either way, they're right there, hidden in plain sight. I mean, I wasn't looking for Beatle faces on the cliff while I watched the Quadrophenia clip that you posted, but there they were. And when I called my girlfriend in to look, I asked her if she saw "anything interesting" on the cliff, and after a brief pause she said "is that Paul McCartney's proifile?" Finally, when one takes the many lyrical clues on Quadrophenia into account, well, I'd LOVE to have a beer with one Peter Townshend.

the white cliiff and open sea cover
the doll house cover
what's the connection?

I starting looking at songs by Cream and I found an interesting song that was the flip side of the single that had BADGE (the Paul-Faul song that George Harrison co-wrote with Eric Clapton) on it. The song's called WHAT A BRINGDOWN: Dainties in a jam-jar, a parson's colour in the sky. [PLENTY OF JAM JARS by the Ravellers?] Water in a fountain doesn't get me very high. Moby Dick and Albert making out with Captain Bligh. So you know what you know in your head. ["Even though you know what you know. . ." SHE SAID SHE SAID] Will you, won't you, do you, don't you know when a head's dead? What a bringdown! Winter leader Lou is growin' 'amsteads in the North. Betty B's been wearin' daisies since the twenty-fourth. Wears a gunner when there's one more coming forth. And you know what you know in your head. Will you, won't you do you, don't you wanna go to bed? What a bringdown! There's a tea-leaf about in the family, Full of nothin' their fairy tale. There's a tea-leaf a-floatin' now for Rosalie, They'll believe in ding-dong bell. Take a butchers at the dodginesses of old Bill [Campbell?] Aristotle's orchestra are living on the pill. One of them gets very very prickly when he's ill. And you know what you know in your head. Will you, won't you, do you, don't you wanna make more bread? What a bringdown! Listen to this on youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6FFnwp/E7cAt 0:51-0:52 and 1:11-1:12, it sounds very much like John Lennon on GLASS ONION.
