This picture was taken from The Beatles: Unseen Archives.... Here's Ringo on August 20th, 1967 (a few days before Brian's death). And zooming in on his button...

Well, what do you think? Brian was still alive and they were no longer touring, so... Who is Ringo missing?

Well, saying "he misses Paul, because Paul is dead!" is the obvious answer, but...
Maybe, since his child was just born, he's suffering from post-partem depression?
Anyway, this is my favorite "clue" found in just the regular lives of the Beatles, and not within the music itself.

If Paul is dead, why wearing the button if Paul can't read it and the rest doesn't know it?
Could it be that Paul is no longer with them (Maybe he quit) and alive and Ringo asks him to come back?

Really now, come on! I think it is an injustice to any 'investigation' to grasp at things like this button, and infer great schemes and complicated themes behind it.
In context, this photo WAS from 1967; the year all the Beatles spent stoned out of their gourds 24/7. Fans used to send the band, among other things, buttons as gifts. Many photos, maybe some in the unseen archive book even, show Beatles with buttons on; such as John or George with a "Stamp Out the Beatles" button, etc.
I personally do not think Ringo wearing this button can be connected in any manner as evidence for anything.

You're right, we can't get no evidence from that botton. But if the PID theory was true, it would have a big meaning and a lot of sense. That makes me think that if we take all the clues, all the strange photographuc stuff and such, we get lots of facts that would have a new meaning if the replacement hypothesys was true. But the serious way should be finding elements that lead us to the facts, and not possible facts that would lead us to such elements. Well, I hope you understand what I mean

I personally do not think Ringo wearing this button can be connected in any manner as evidence for anything. I agree with you Ian that a clue is not an evidence for itself. But I also think that a clue, with other clues ensemble, could help us to reconstruct what happened. For example, in Sgt Pepper's cover, we can see that the young Ringo is very sad and is conforted by the young Paul.

It depends on what we look for. If we look for motives to believe, then probably some of us will find them joining all the clues. If we look for proofs, then I'm afraid clues will hardly ever be enough

oh no... no more "evidence" please, that word already freaks me out ;D ;D but i guess that if we're discussing things that could have some meaning, then the button may be one of those. i think it's not a message to anyone but to himself. (ok, i may be reading too much into it) but some people carry the pain outside and some inside... that button looks like carrying the pain inside. i don't know... just an idea.

I think it's one of the best clues found in a long time. ;D ;D Let's see who could he be talking about? Not Brian. Post-martem depression? Yeah right. Drugs? I don't think so. Even with all of the drugs they were taking I'm sure Ringo had the presence of mind to know what button he was wearing! Good going Wings!

To deconstruct the beginning of his day... He gets up, does his routine, decides what clothes to wear to meet the press who he knows will be there.. (very well dressed in that coat, etc.) and he decides out of all the buttons to wear while the cameras are rolling, one that says "I miss you like hell". Ok maybe he means Maureen, but it was a routine birth, no months long stay in the hospital, just a few days probably. The husbandly thing to say, if it was to be on a button, might be, "miss you darling" or something like that. It looks like deliberate planning on his part, and not in keeping with the happy atmosphere of a meeting with the press on the day of his son's birth. I'll post the few minutes of video of this, in a day or two.

I agree with you Ian that a clue is not an evidence for itself. But I also think that a clue, with other clues ensemble, could help us to reconstruct what happened. For example, in Sgt Pepper's cover, we can see that the young Ringo is very sad and is conforted by the young Paul. But, this is where things go balmy. The perception of supposed "clues" is explosively subjective. For example, you cite the 'sad' ringo figure being consoled by the 'Paul' figure. Sure, to slip into the fervent "PID" mindset, this blatant 'clue' has great significance. But the truth is, the wax figures were from 1964, were made by Tussaud's Wax Museum and were on public display for almost a year. Ringo was always described as the "sad-faced one" therefore Tussaud's made him look mopey. The fact that the Paul figure has his arm around the Ringo figure is happenstance, as that is the way the figures were posed by Tussaud's in their wax museum. See? There are always different ways to perceive "clues" and always seemingly additional information to shed balanced mental light upon the dark shadows of PWR (paul was replaced) musings.

I agree, JoJo and Wings. Sometimes you need to say something you aren't "publicly" able to say...I used to do it all the time on the radio

Since we're bumping some older topics, I thought I'd give this one another whirl. It's still one of my favorite "clues" to be found.
