Derek McCulloch, better known as "Uncle Mac" was the host of the BBC radio show the "Children's Hour" . Children's Hour was broadcast from 1922 to 1964. In an interview with Godfrey Winn were extracts from McCulloch's diary--it's titled "A Day in the Life of the Chief Radio "Uncle". IMHO, I don't think it's too big a stretch to say John Lennon knew of McCulloch and his diary, and it helped (in part) to inspire his song "A Day in the Life". www.sterlingtimes.org/children12.htm
