Found this from my usual downloading source along with this information: From the POD album "Rough Notes," source listed as '1968 Acetate.'
Lots of discussion over whether or not this is genuine. I don't know who
could fake Paul's singing that well, especially that "basso profundo" stuff
in the choruses, like "Besame Mucho" from Let it Be. If it's not Beatle Paul
I think the singer would have become famous in his own right!
It doesn't really sound like Ringo's drumming; I've always wondered
if it isn't maybe all Paul, doing his own little demo?
Sorry for the surface noise; it's a new rip of an old LP via Apogee Rosetta 24-bit
A/D converter,pitch-corrected (down 1 semitone from the LP) in Wavelab 5.01b,
LAME-320k.
procul She's So HeavyNot sure, it sure doesn't sound like Paul or a good imitation for that matter. Definitely not John who sang lead on Abbey Road. (although there was some backup from the others?) So... shall we trot out the list of usual suspects? My chief suspect is Denny Laine, anyone else?

No clue, probably the least lazy of us could find out by searching Bootlegzone...
JoJo, is that new picture the real you? Love, Bill.

POD is a "christian"new-metal/rap outfit that have been around for a few yrs... not a big fan, but they did get pretty heavy airplay on alt-rock radio a few yrs ago. I guess they've got their 2nd or 3rd cd out by now. ....Average as far as new-metal/rap goes. Not overly "chistian" on the 1st cd... I had to have that aspect pointed out to me.

I Want You (She's So Heavy) (Lennon/McCartney) 4:31 Song Fake ? Feb 1969 The Beatles Sung by Paul ! George is not present on this take. (Note: would the owner of this acetate please come forward for digital mastering ?).
Noted as "TAKE 1, Trident studios, acetate".
It is not clear yet whether this is a fake or not. The date is of course speculative (noted here as 22 feb 1969 although it's sometimes noted as 21 feb 1969).

It's not until past the midpoint that you get the distinct impression that it's "not John". Before, it's possible, perhaps it was the quality of the recording you might think.
So it's one of two things: A rare find, some unknown vocalist jamming with the Beatles (with all that implies) or some random unknown group doing a Beatle cover. Hard to dismiss as the latter, with the bass and guitar seemingly so similar. And I know I've heard that voice before, perhaps not Denny, perhaps someone else.. (another thing to drive me nuts)
One other thing, even in the final official version, there IS another voice buried in the mix IMO.

Weird, that's too late to be the Jude performance, so what is it? Something else to be unearthed I suppose..

It's the "o" vowel, coupled with his heavy vibrato, and the rough, edgy tone he utilized in both spots. I think it's the same guy in both spots. I agree, Jojo, earlier in the She's So Heavy tune, it's up for grabs, could be Lennon......
