i think he's talking about this album This album was released in Canada in 1969 by Polydor Records, around the time of the "Paul Is Dead" rumors. Note on the cover photo that one of the four candles is blown out. The tracks consisted of the 1961 songs recorded with Tony Sheridan

While it's obviously meant to be a PID clue, it's one that I can't really trust. It was released at the height of PID-mania by Polydor Records, not by Apple or the Beatles themselves. I think it was just a way to cash in on the craze, and those that designed the cover did so without taking it seriously.

That seems very likely to me, Wings.

Here's a close-up of the smoke. Does anyone see a clue in there? I don't see anything special, but it looks hand-painted.

Your looking in the right place for sublinals. Chances are the smoke would have been added or altered later on. We need a better picture of this though. Can anyone can and upload it? While we're on the subject can anyone scan and upload Paul from the second 'Yesterday And Today' sleeve' please.

Polydor is a Major Label. John seemed to like Canada. I don't know if Faul liked Canada. Klatuu were from Canada. If this album was published by some unknown or tiny label in Mexico or somewhere simular, I would probably uniformly dismiss it. And that just got me wondering: does anyone know if Faul ever played Canada? Just curious.

Lol noodles!
Sorry if I've missed the point but are you saying that Polydor is a Canadian label?

IMO John is the flame on the side of the "burned out" candle, and George and Ringo are on the other side, Ringo being the smallest, or least significant flame.....

The smoke must be important because "the Beatles" and "Very together" are not centered on the cover, may be to make it more visible.

Maybe with all the rumours of Paul being dead getting out, they wanted something like this to make it appear they are very together...yet one flame just snuffed out...
It is a mixed signal, but this is a bizarre case.

It's bizarre alright. Their perfect way to express what happened to Paul. He was a very bright flame that was suddenly snuffed out.

A significant flame that was snuffed out... I don't remember seeing this albumcover before this thread. Interesting concept for a clue.

I think the flames are more a symbol of the 3 against 1 situation regarding the manager or something. You don't want Allen Klein? then your flame is out of the pic.

IMO John is the flame on the side of the "burned out" candle, and George and Ringo are on the other side, Ringo being the smallest, or least significant flame..... If you think about it, the order of the flames is John, Paul, George and Ringo. That's normally how they are named.

The order of the flame....John Paul...reminds me of the late pope, the icon of Catholic faith.
John and Paul were icons of their own religion.
