Does anyone know about bootlegs of session tapes? I have a lot of bootlegs, but most of the interesting stuff covers a small range of material. I have several different takes which comprise most of the elements of Strawberry Fields, for instance. I'm very interested in finding more material like this. I'm especially interested in finding session tapes from Revolver to White Album. I have quite a lot already, mostly alternate mixes and demos, but the studio tapes with the false starts and isolated instruments and random chatter is what I'm most interested in. What is available? Surely most of this stuff has been bootlegged by now.

im reading this in the recent posts list, so i dont know if this one's been answered already but -
your best bet on information regarding any and all things bootlegable is bootlegzone.com
there are literally hundreds (if not thousands) of beatle bootlegs and bootlegzone catalogues as many as its users submit. so it is (in effect) a complete list
note - you cant download from bootlegzone, you can trade with others but if you're interested purely in the music then there are tonnes of beatle bootleg sites, blogs etc. bootlegzone is more of a reference tool so you know whats available

Thanks for the reply. I'm quite familiar with bootlegzone. As you said, however, it doesn't help me find the material, and googling the bootleg names gives me nothing most of the time. Most of the links are outdated too. I'm not at all interested in purchasing this stuff, unless someone can provide me with HQ recordings of original 4 track tapes. Most of this stuff seems pretty iffy, and indeed, the bootlegs I have are mostly useless with a gem or two thrown in. As I said, I'm very interested in outtakes and studio recordings. Any such pointers in acquiring this material would be appreciated. I want Revolver-White album period, but would certainly welcome any material of this sort.

Obviously, but where can i find more material like the SFF takes? I'm trying to build a comprehensive collection of takes from this period. I find one track here and there, but am utterly dismayed that I cannot find a good collection. If I find it, I will certainly compile it comprehensively and share it.
*edit* For instance, I see talk of a boot called "Alternate Album 1" which has tons of "I Am the Walrus" takes. I can't find it anywhere. This is one of the songs I'm most interested in. Is it what it appears to be? If so, I MIGHT consider a purchase, but I'd have to be sure I wasn't just getting a digital isolation of certain elements, such as most of the bootlegs which claim to offer what I seek.

actually, I don't know if it's alright for me to post a torrent site, but demonoid.com has a lot of torrents by somebody called Purple Chick. She's uploaded "deluxe" beatles albums in flac format (lossless audio). I have a bunch of them already and theyre all great. You usually get the mono and stereo mixes along with the session recordings.
Hope this helps.

It just doesn't exist outside of the EMI faults.

Yes. The Purple Chick collections are ones that I have been exploring. This is where I've found most of the tracks that get my curiosity going. There are some interesting tracks there to be sure, but they're sprinkled in among lots of less interesting things, such as monitor mixes and other tracks that sound like low quality dubs of what are very similar to the released versions.

okay - to start with, there are a few main revolver-era bootlegs although they mostly contain the same material Revolving and Revolver Deluxe* (i think) ... i cant be bothered to go to bz right now to check, but those two between them are about all the material from 66 (spring-summer). And of course there is the candlestick park gig, Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane are both best summed up on "Strawberry Lane" although i dont think thats quite complete per say. Good nonetheless. Sgt Pepper has the 'mono' version of course, Sgt Pepper Deluxe, The Alternate Sgt Pepper, Pepperland, Sgt Pepper Naked Magical Mystery Tour is the area I'm lacking in as far as boots go, so right now I can tell you there is .. 'The Walrus, Eggman and Pinguins (sic)' and Magical Mystery Outtakes, there are a bunch more but i cant remember the titles. The biggest and most complete for the white album is The Beatles Deluxe imo - White Album Stereo (2disc)
- White Album Mono (2disc)
- There are the acoustic esher demos from before white album/after india (1 disc)
- Session Outtakes etc (5 discs)
- Whitecasts (2 discs)
*All these deluxe albums are a set by purple chick there are a few sections of history skipped over there, but meh. anyway, a good place to start finding these things (if its still around) is a blog by someone called octaner **google** www.octaner.blogspot.com/it is still around. anyway, thats a good place to try.

lol. it took me so long to type that that there were like 3 or 4 replies between then and now
yeah, purple chick is pretty good. insofar as it collates just about all of the currently bootlegged material
a complete purple chick collection is probably as near as you can come to a complete bootleg collection, with the odd exception
like mike said, anything more comprehensive than that is in a metal case, on magnetic tape, somewhere in London

I downloaded this torrent yesterday, and found most of it to be total wank. I guess The Deceptionist is right, and what I want doesn't exist. I think what exists is more complete than what I have though. I wish the bootlegs were organized better. For the record, most of the Purple Chick material seems to be faked. I hear quite a lot of digital artefacting from what apparently is digital isolations from the released versions and other outtakes. Not only that, but most of it is way to difficult to acquire for what it is. Megaupload and Rapidshare? I can't even finish downloading the first disk before i reach my download limit.

Surely most of this stuff has been bootlegged by now. I have to admit I'm a bit of a bootleg fanatic myself, so I'd like to help you any way I can. First off, I'm sure you already know this but if you're really serious about expanding your collection then you can't just rely on excellent Beatles bootleg blogs such as 6plus3blog.wordpress.com/ or www.octaner.blogspot.com. No, you'll have to download a BitTorrent client. I highly recommend uTorrent--it's small, fast, and easy to use (if you're unfamiliar with torrents, see the BitTorrrent FAQSome torrent links you might find useful: isohunt.com/download/28324831/Beatles+bootleg.torrentA lot of really good torrents here. thepiratebay.org/tor/3367723/The_Beatles_-_It_s_Not_Too_Bad_(Strawberry_Fields_Forever_ComplContains every known take of Strawberry Fields Forever, including home demos. isohunt.com/torrent_details/43046092/Beatles+bootleg?tab=summaryVarious rare Beatles tracks. Alt. takes, and a few unreleased songs, too. Kind of a grab bag of neat little goodies. isohunt.com/torrent_details/31885398/Beatles+bootleg?tab=summaryIn April 1968 John and George returned from India and the Beatles reunited at George's house to practice songs they had written in India for the new album. Contains very early, rough recordings of most The White Album. Finally, for all your studio chatter needs you need Purple Chick's A/B Road. It encompasses all the audio that was recorded during the Get Back sessions, so if you're into that "fly on the wall" kind of experience, this collection is your best bet: www.shnflac.net/details.php?id=389141cd771c92e6f2c2f8d7bb9279bbf86a0180The forum requires that you register before you can download torrents, but if you can't be arsed to do that don't worry: there are plenty of places where you can find the A/B Road set. It's huge, but I highly recommend it to anyone who likes studio chater. There's a lot more I could share with you, but I don't have the time right now. I hope I've been of some help to you. Good luck finding the bootlegs you're looking for!

a-ha. thx for bringing this thread back up to the top jude. it was exactly what i was about to post in...
i had a random thought at lunch time... rare, i know.
but anyway - i remembered Giles Martin saying that he had transferred the entire EMI Beatles collection from the original tapes to digital form in the process of creating the Love album.
so, lordspiel's wish may... eventually... be granted. its inevitable imo that these will end up being leaked at some point. every take of every track. and every separate channel for that take. maybe not now ... or next week ... or even this year - but i reckon if its sat on someone's computer somewhere its a lot easier for it to see its way into the public domain. wishful thinking i guess, but it'd be great if it happened ;D
