I have always wondered why Paul head was BAD cropped and replaced in "Beatles For Sale" back cover. So was Paul already in "troubles" on fall 1964?

Very interesting observation, GN. Looks like he may have had some skull/brain surgery. Some will say, "It's just the way the light is hitting his hair", but consider the words of "Fixing A Hole".

Hi GN,
I don't want to be negationist, something which would really be out of character for a PID diehard. However, I wonder if it wasn't due to twigs in the foreground (as far as Paul's hair is concerned) and if the blurry chins aren't due to the Photographer shouting "look at me" making them raise their heads, and blurring their faces. This would be more noticeable where there are visual planes juxtaposed such as between that of their chins and of their necks in the shadows.
I will admit that blown up that motif on Paul's hair does look weird, and not exactly like an out of focus leaf on a twig.

The best post in a GN thread by far, Jude. OMG, You're my favorite non-PIAer, dude.
And GN, did it ever occur to you that Technology in the 1960s may have been shit?
The way the seemed to colour was by painting it it, giving an ZOMFG DOCTOREDD!!!!!1 feel to them. But really, not many people still fall for your shite.

Is it possible that Dino Danelli could have been a stand-in for Paul at sometime? Yes.

Is it possible that Dino Danelli could have been a stand-in for Paul at sometime? Yes. Would they have hired a stand-in that looks like him--same eye color, same shape of nose, etc..? Yes. Sounds like him? Yes. Of the same nationality even? Yes. Does the man you see above you meet any of those qualifications insofar that he could have appeared in public in front of, to give a very modest guess, dozens of fans and photographers armed with cameras and newsmen ready to capture every moment on film and fooled every one of them into thinking that he was Paul McCartney? NO.

NO. Dino is Italian, but from that photo it strikes me that he is Celto-italic, a type common in the Northwestern regions of Italy. William also strikes me as Celt descended, as was Paul. Celt as opposed to Norman/Anglo/Saxon, though they seem to be all related, but sub-types of a larger general type. Of course Dino was from New Jersey and all american. I refer to possible ancestry. Possibly his mom was not Italian.... But who cares. We're all mutts. Here's some good information and interview splices about "The Rascals." Good, and thourough, reading, even if somewhat cobbled together..... www.angelfire.com/ky3/ky1958/rascals/rascalsbio.html

The connection of Dino Danelli with The Beatles was Sid Bernstein who managed the Young Rascals and also was the promoter for The Beatles' New York appearances. So if Paul was "unavailable" at some time (especially at those baseball stadium concerts) who knows if Brian Epstein might have slipped Danelli in as a replacement.

There was profound change in Marianne's voice but much later in life. Where did you get this idea anyway? Very interesting read and just weeks before everything was to change--forever. Of course everything changes every day to some extent but the big changes occur less often. How semi-prophetic.

Paul McCartney is a bassist: Dino Danelli is a drummer: There is no sense in arguing with someone who thinks drummers and bassists are interchangeable at baseball stadium concerts.

No, I agree Jude and I don't want to comment on whether Dino stepped in or not but, bass and drums are similar IMO. Both provide rhythm, I think the bass is usually layed down first on a track too.
