"Then Allen Ginsberg came in ... He went over to the chair Dylan was sitting in and plonked himself down on the armrest ... John Lennon broke the silence snarling: "'Why don't you sit a bit closer then, dearie?' "The insinuation - that Allen had a crush on Dylan - was intended to demolish Allen, but since it wasn't far from the truth anyway, Allen took it very lightly. The joke was on them, really. He burst out laughing, fell off the arm and onto Lennon's lap. Allen looked up at him and said, 'Have you ever read William Blake, young man' "And Lennon in his Liverpudlian deadpan said, 'Never heard of the man.' "Cynthia, who wasn't going to let him get away with this even in jest, chided him: 'Oh, John, stop lying.' That broke the ice. Seems awfully effective

Don't live in the past Don't hold on to something that's changing fast What we are, is what we are and what we wear Is vintage clothes, vintage clothes: We jump up for joy Who cares if we look like a girl or boy What we are, is what we are and what we wear Is vintage clothes, vintage clothes: A little more, a little tall Check the rack What went out, is coming back Don't live in the past Don't hold on to something that's changing fast What we are, is what we are and what we wear Is vintage clothes, vintage clothes: A little more, a little tall Check the rack What went out, is coming back

In 1967, when The Beatles had to pose for the photograph for the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band cover, Lennon asked Mona if he could borrow the war medals her father had been given in India to wear for the photo session. Although still upset at the way her son was dismissed from The Beatles, Mona agreed, and the medals were then returned, along with a Cash Box trophy that is in the letter 'L' of THE BEATLES flower-sign on the cover.Cash box Coffer Cougher Expert texpert choking smoker Käfer-j

Mona Lisa" is an anagram of "Amon" and "Isis," if you write "Isis" in the manner of some (unreferenced) ancient pictogram that roughly translates to "L'isa" in Latin text. Thus PROVING that (quoting from p. 121) "... not only does the face of Mona Lisa look androgynous, but her name is an anagram of the divine union of male and female. And that, my friends, is Da Vinci's little secret, and the reason for Mona Lisa's knowing smile." lol

picking up on the rhyming slang issue from another thread...
Sparky - Starkey Attercliffe - Sutcliffe Beatles - Beadles
Whatever you think of MY clues, I think Rhyming Slang issue is very relevant to us. Beyond this fascinating and very English phenomena, rhyming is one of the things that (I hope you'll all agree with me) the Beatles had a very special gift for. I'm sure their ear was alert for it in other people's works, as well!
