Notice that huge number 66 on the side of the sub on the 10th page down...

Actually that's a "1066" on top of the pyramid.

1066 - Norman Conquest.
French seize Brittania.
Lovely Rita looks a lot like Sylvie. Same blue...

Speaking of Sylvie and comic books, I found the cover of this Italian "Western" one... "La droga dei sensi" translates as "drug of the senses". www.eroidicarta.com/vartan.jpg(I'm not sure it means anything, but it's curious nonetheless.)

My thoughts as well, both about 1066 and lovely Rita, although there's the "oct-1966" possibility too. Imagine, in 1968, no one would even begin to consider the Sylvie/Rita reference, except for the closest insiders.. Sylvie/Rita, makes ya wonder.. Thanks for the link JGD, very odd, with the revolver and all. Do you think this is truely a reference to Sylvie Vartan? It would appear so.

Okay, I found out a bit more about the comic "Vartan". The creator was an Italian named Sandro Angiolini. He cartoonist who started doing erotic comics in 1966. He first did "Isabella", then created other sexy heroins: Vartan, Una, Belzeba, and La Poliziotta.
The Vartan character was part of an erotic-western series. I think Angiolini drew inspiration from Sylvie & Fylvie (that's who the heroin looks like). Because of the drawings' risque nature, I'm not posting anything. But if you do a search, you can find some examples. I'm just not sure there is enough to say Angiolini was aware of anything PID related. (Though I must say, John Lennon's reference to "pornographic priestess" has crossed my mind...)
